Bombay Potatoes, Chapatis and Mango Chutney

When I ask the Combsman what he might like for dinner his pat response through the ages has been, "Something different". I have collected various cookbooks over the years with his participation to satisfy his "taste" for something different. Flipping through a beautiful book of Food of India I wondered why it had been so long since we had since we used it. I flipped and flopped form page to page, from list of ingredients to list of ingredients and there was the answe

Indiahoma Funerals

We don't have a lot in Indiahoma, Comanche County, Southwest Oklahoma.
There's a lot of poverty and unemployment. There isn't much to do in
Indiahoma besides hang out or go to church (we have 6 churches).

What
goes on in an insignificant town like Indiahoma? Community. Everyone
comes out to the ball games. You don't have to have a kid on the team to
root for Indiahoma. School Board meetings are important events. We need
the school to keep the town alive… Continue

First Order of Business

The very first thing I do when I awake is get my thoughts straight. If I am terribly groggy, I am usually thinking...What day is it? Who am I? Why am I here? (ha ha...no kidding) But on a normal morning, after using the bathroom, I turn on the coffee maker and then the computer. I relish my time alone in the morning before the children rise. I sip my delicious cup of coffee and check e-mails, notifications, read posts...etc. Of course, many mornings, I blog.

Did You Brush Your Teeth?

I grew up with the idea that it is better to brush your teeth after eating meals, so I always brushed my teeth after breakfast. Before coming out to India I happened to read a book of travel memoirs about India - the name of the book and the author escape me right now - that Indians think it is disgusting to drink tea or eat anything without

Definitions vs. Stories

[first posted on Creo en Dios!]
I've mentioned that one of the books I am reading is The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything, written by James Martin, S.J. This is one of those books that pretty much everyone will get something out of.

One of the things I've read in the book thus far that intrigued me comes from his chapter on Friendship with God. In talking about that fact that one comes to know God by lea… Continue

Another Quote

Fri 30/7 (2:23 pm)

In my other blog, I put a widget on the sidebar, this widget contains quotes from Goodreads.

At first, I thought the only quotes I will get are the ones I put as my personal favourites on my Goodreads' page but apparantly not, ahahaha..

And today's quote is good.. let me put it down here :

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Gearing up for promotion

I'm glad I found a link to this site. I have a blog which I created as a way to market, sell, and be a forum for my book "Magical Shrinking: Stumbling Through Bipolar Disorder." I'm getting tired of typing out the name.

I've been reading about blogging tonight because I wondered how frequently I should blog. I feel like doing it quite often but wasn't sure it was a good idea to just post whenever I felt like it since it's supposed to be a more professional page than personal blog. Of c… Continue
