NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

If anyone has any favourite food blogs, I'd love to hear about them, especially if they include a bit of food history.

Gillian, I am a fan of: Orangette, Smitten Kitchen, Amuse Bouche, Beyond Salmon, Simply Recipes, Tea and Cookies, Not Eating Out in New York, and Culinate, which is more of an online food 'zine.

Thank you :). I shall check them out (but not just before a meal - the very names make me a tad hungry).

The Ethicurean is awesome, as are the Amateur Gourmet, Harold McGee's News for Curious Cooks, the Food Whore, Marion Nestle's What to Eat (which is more about food policy/ethics/science), and Hooked on Heat among many others...

Susan's Fat Free Vegan blog is really fantastic - great pics, and she talks about the veg and grains and whatever else in a way that is interesting and always makes me want to get in the kitchen and experiement. She sometimes gets into the history of the food as well. I know that "fat free" anything doesn't sound fantastic, but don't let that fool you!

And then there is Vegan Yum Yum, which won some blogger awards this year, I think. Again, fantastic food pics, great recipes, and she has this one post (from a few months ago) where she has a picture story of how to make little sweaters and balls of yarn out of marzipan. Crazy, and cool.

Those are the two I'm most fascinated by, at least!

Why do I read these suggestions just before a meal? My timing sucks.

I rather think I'm going to have to post a list of these blogs in November, so that everyone else can enjoy them too. Thank you!

You could review a food blog each day, and you could have NaBloPoYear!

I could. But then I'd be hungry forever!!

I also forgot Cooking for Engineers on my list. It's immensely geeky and totally awesome.

I keep an eye on Cooking for Engineers, too. It's a great deal of fun.
