NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

I like to try and keep up with all my friends, visiting their sites somewhat regularly and posting comments on their site. But am starting to get overwhelmed! (I've never been good at speed reading...) How do you bloggers with pages and pages of friends do it?! :)

What do you do to keep up with your friends' sites? And how will your routine change in November?!

I use a feed reader to keep track of blogs. It lets me know when there are new posts so that I don't have to waste time checking on blogs that haven't been updated in a while. Firefox has attachments that do this, and some internet services like Bloglines or Google Reader do it as well. They're especially useful for keeping track of people after NaBlo when some of them stop posting quite as often.

Oooh, thanks Erin that's a good suggestion!

I have Google Reader and it is awesome, but I mainly keep mine organized in iGoogle. That way I can keep them separated by topic into tabs and then skim across each of pages to look for new posts. But it is getting to be so many now, I have considered going back to Google reader, LOL.

OMG, you must try either Reader, Bloglines or iGoogle. You won't ever go back.

Yeah, I was going to suggest Google Reader, too. It's a lifesaver. You can also organize within folders, which is also quite helpful.

Google Reader is the Bomb-diggity, no doubt. I do bookmark the ones who don't have a feed set up, but I do get behind in checking those, and sometimes I will only get to them once a week, which makes me then feel all stalkery because I leave a bunch of comments all at once.

Mostly I keep up because we don't have a TV. The intertubes are my Oprah.

I've organized my google reader and now I'm so caught up with all my friends that I could use a few more! :)

Most of my off-line friends don't have sites, and the rest of them don't actually blog about anything I'd find interesting. Some of my on-line friends have really good blogs though, but the number I track is still low enough that bookmarking them (into categories according to subject, mixed with other sites on the subject) still works well. I've got CoffeeCup RSS News Flash ready for when I have too many blogs to read that way, though. It helps that I can speed read.

My routine won't change in November, except that I will be exploring the NaBloPoMo members' blogs as well.

Feed readers are definitely a great way to do this, as everyone's already said. :D I use Vienna, a News client, so that I can read offline, too, and everything's saved locally.

NaBloPoMo is a great way to find cool new blogs (I've already found so many I want to follow through this site!!), so I'm thinking there may need to be a new NaBlo folder for them all!

By the way, for you Mac people, supposedly the new Leopard has interesting RSS features. It's coming out Friday.

Ooh, interesting - I've been wondering about the same thing since I recently went back to livejournal. I've never tried Google Reader, but I will definitely have a look now.
