NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

I put a few homemade html badges here, so feel free to go over and grab one. Please link it back to nablopomo.com so people can click on the link and come join the party.

I will work on a couple more and put up a link to them as soon as they're ready. There's now an "HTML BADGES" box on the right sidebar (you might have noticed the cat there) so check back there to see what's new!

You can go see the badges Sara made here and here.

Or make one of your own over at Image Chef.

Thank you for these HTML badges - I can proudly proclaim my membership here now. I've picked the huge cat logo - the "Let's all post until the internet explodes" tagline is a great way of summing up the spirit of the month.

I hope I don't get flamed for this -

I really hate being so illiterate about this kind of stuff, but I attempted to upload a badge to my blogger sidebar. I used the directions given here at the ning site on how to do this (I saved the image to my harddrive, uploaded it to blogger in a post, copied that code and put it within quote marks after some other words as the directions said) and it uploaded the words/code rather than the picture.

(This is what I tried to do:

If you want to put a badge in your sidebar, just copy the url that Blogger has given you for the badge image (it will be something like http://www.blogger1.photos.nablo07_micro.jpg) and paste it like so between the quotation marks that come after img src=

This bit of code will post the image and link it back to nablopomo.com. You'll have to go into your blog template and paste this whole line of code where you want it to show up in your sidebar.)

I have a feeling I'm missing something very elementary.

I appreciate any help.

When you have brain for it's tough to figure out why in the world you can't get the image to link like it should. After 4 attempts I finally figured out that I had the letters transposed. What fun!

Well as I said in my first post, this will get me thinking. I just didn't figure on the html badge to get me started thinking this early...

Hi, don't know if you got it figured out, but I was having the same problem. I had no idea how to put a badge in Blogger. Finally I figured out I had to be in a classic template so I could edit the html of the sidebar.

But I had the same problem you did. I spent forever fiddling, I copied the blogger button and then tried to edit it. I visited some help pages and it seems there is a problem trying to use a image that is in your blog. So I made a page at Google pages and used the code for that and it worked.

I would be interested to see if anyone was able to make it work with an image in a Blogger post, and how they did it. Or it there is another way.

Thanks!

How do I get my personal badge in my wordpress sidebar? I see the embed HTML code, but when I paste that into a widget, nothing happens.

I figure out how to add the badge on Wordpress, here's how:

You can add the badge to your blog using a Wordpress text widget pretty much the same way that Eden explains doing it for Blogspot. First save the badge you want to use, upload it to Wordpress using the "Media" dropdown on your dashboard. Take the link it provides you, and then plug it into the HTML that Eden suggests.

Check out my blog at http://travianchampions.wordpress.com/ to see what it looks like once you've got it up!
