National Blog Posting Month
Do you have a strategy to get you through NaBloPoMo?
Here it is, folks, my official strategy for success at NaBloPoMo 2009:
When in doubt, write about food.
That's it, but oh, what a difference it makes! Last year I had no strategy, no plan, no drafts folder, no ace up my sleeve for those crappy days when bike rides were more appealing than blogging, and frankly, it showed: I managed 19 posts in 30 days, and that was a struggle.
But this time around, I'm determined to do the full month, and here is how: Though I am full of opinions about many many (many!) things, food is probably the biggest issue that gets me all riled up. So, be ready for the onslaught of recipes and rants, because it's coming.
What about you? Are you winging it, or is there a method to your madness?

i love your photos!
actually, that's another strategy: LOTS of photos, because you can always simply describe what was happening when you took them.

agreed. photos and self-indulgence will save me. Plus I like to talk. A lot. So as long as I can train those thoughts onto the blog, I'm good.

Well, since I was a young and impressionable high school kid, I've always carried a notebook with me. Literally, if you are in need of a piece of paper or a pen, I will have it.
No question.
The general game plan I have for the month is this: If my mind wanders across a topic I find interesting, I write it down in that notebook or on the closest scrap of paper. With today's post, I actually lifted sections straight from an entry I wrote in that same notebook. Ideas hit when you least expect them so it's vital to have writing utensils close by.
That, and I make a point of reading as many other blogs as I can. Some of the best posts come about as a response to someone else's writing. Plus, it helps keep the dialogue going with all us kids on the Queer Canada Blogroll. :D

I'm totally winging it, however I have a bi-monthly radio show that demands a lot of research so I have many goodies to share, just not enough time to post lengthy blurbs.

dude, i have a lengthy draft post that's all in response to something on your blog from like a *century* ago... stay tuned for when i eventually finish it and post it live, cuz it's bound to happen sometime this month!

I think because it isn't at all about the prize. I haven't won anything doing NaBloPoMo and I suspect most don't. For me it's about the self-discipline of committing to writing every day and making myself find that time.
I generally try to post every day all the time now. I certainly don't make it and sometimes I am just sharing a photo or an interesting link, but I find that the longer I post regularly, the more I do have to say.

I do totally understand the lack of topics/time issue. I'm trying to do this month without Internet access at home and I can't say that's fun. But definitely my main prize is to finish!

I have been posting quite regularly the past two weeks, and still, somedays I just have nothing to say, or don't have the time (should that not be a factor in all of this? Some days I just don't turn on my computer, even if I try to find the time, some days I have such a busy schedule).
Maybe I am discouraged from all this, but don't want to be, you know, discouraging.
