My favorite question to ask is "Who's your favorite poet?" I usually get to hear about an amazing writer whom I've never been introduced to before. So, sound off! Who's your favorite?

Mine, for the curious among you, is ee cummings.

My favorite poet would change depending on what time of my life we're talking about. When I was a teenager, my favorite poet would have been T.S. Eliot. Today it's hard to chose, but one of my favorites is Saul Williams.

Definitely Neruda. Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair is the book that got me hooked. -tom

I really like Marisa Alps, Suzanne Buffam, Thea Bowering and Carla Funk. My mom took me to a poetry reading when I was 8ish and I still love the books I got from there. I come back to them a lot.

mine changes also depending on my mood/phase. i gravitate toward the confessional poets and women poets but i also adore mary oliver (doesn't everyone?) and rumi helps me breathe.

a lot of times, i like to read poems written by my fellow bloggers. fresh, new, personal stuff!

My favorite poet is Frank O'Hara. I love to read Neruda and Berry and Stafford, even though they're men. Right now, the best poets I know are Clarinda Harriss and Rosemary Klein.

I tend to go for accessible, rather than Jorie Graham-ish.

Ted Kooser ranks at the top for me. I love the simplicity and clarity of his writing, the way his environment colors his words.
