I'm glad to see you and Diahn and Lynn and Felicity again! I've been off doing other stuff for a while, and this seems like a good way to get back into the habit of blogging and sharing art!
We've had a "Summer of the Horses!" Back in the spring, Rianna wanted some little Breyer horses with her birthday money so I've been indulging my long supressed Equine Obsession by Immersion in the Model Horse Hobby! There are big ones that are expensive, which kept me at bay for years, and smaller ones that are $3-4...Oops! There I went! People collect, repaint, remake, have live shows, photo shows, research pedigrees & give them bloodlines...it's endless fun! Along with the models, we've been going to real horse shows all year, too. Dressage tests, Lipizzaners, Arabians, Hunter/Jumpers...tack and colors and breeds and types...HEAVEN!! AND...I get to do ART! I recently entered a painting contest with two models I repainted and am anxiously waiting for results, Rianna's working on one and I have two more I'll be donating to a Cancer benefit show in March. Rianna's learning photography with studio lighting by photographing her own models to show (one got 2nd place last month!) and she, very fearlessly, was feeding peppermints to big Dutch Warmbloods last weekend! But I'm still doing other sketching and painting around, too. We went to the Kauffman Garden the week before and I got to sit and paint a quick rosebud sketch.
So, like that. I have missed EDM and y'all and drawing EVERY day, so I'm working on incorporating them back in!
I'm getting around to reading blogs again to catch up, but we're off to see the new 3D Seamonster movie at Union Station in a bit!

Well you have been having fun for sure!! And I know exactly what you are talking about as I once did an article on this very subject! It surely does get to be an obsession!
I like to sketch but usually have no time or am overwhelmed by life's other demands. I would love to hear the feedback of others on how to fix that problem.
The trick is to just keep a sketchbook in your pocket or purse or bag and jot or doodle or sketch when you can. Surely there is some moment in your day when you are waiting for something or someone else...coffee to perk, email to load, kids/DH/DW/SO to get ready to go...STEAL a moment!! I took my new horse book and my sketchbook and a pencil in the bathroom with me while the kids were playing after supper and sketched a rough head in the 5 minutes before they discovered I hadn't come back out! I've sketched things on my microwave while my coffee perks, it depends on YOU!! What's your commitment to doing something creative in your day?
Ever heard of a book called Everyday Matters? Nice book!
Teri, I'll post some! Do you have your article? I'd love to read it!

I do have the article......but it is in Wisconsin. No matter what home I am in, I always need something in the other house. Sorry. I am sure you would enjoy it because of your interest. Most of the people that I wrote about also had horses. In fact I did quite a few articles on horse-related things--I think they thought I was their personal reporter :) I loved doing them.
I love your idea of 'stealing' time to do a sketch! And the bathroom! great place to sketch!!
