What makes you Southern?

I was born in Illinois & lived here until I was 13. From 13 to 20 I lived in Tennessee. I've been back in Illinois for 12 years now, so technically, I'm not truly Southern. But something about the South tends to grab hold & never lets go. My parents & siblings are still there so maybe it's where my heart is. I miss the South almost as much as I miss my family.

Do I qualify as a Southern girl?
