I was born in 1977 at the height of the Jennyferness. My mother for some reason thought it would be a good idea to name me just "Jenny" instead of "Jennifer" - because she planned on calling me "Jenny". (Which makes ZERO sense since my older brother Andrew has always been called "Andy". But whatever.) So on my birth certificate it says, "Jenny Michelle Brads". So I've spent my whole life correcting people when they call me "Jennifer" - not because I want to, but because it's just not my name. The good folks who hold my mortgage, however, could not believe me on that one for some reason, so it says "Jennifer" on my mortgage. When we closed on our house, to avoid them having to postpone the closing date, I had to sign every line twice - once with "Jenny" and once with "Jennifer". And you know how there are like 487 lines you have to sign when you close your mortgage. So - annoying. I wish my parents would have just added the "ifer"! But I'll always be just Jenny.
Incidentally, when I was in junior high, there were TWINS in my class named Jennifer and Jenny. I am NOT kidding. Isn't that cruel?? She was the only other "just Jenny" I ever met. Man I felt sorry for those two!

I also was born in 1977 but my mom named me Jennifer and intended for people to call me just that, Jennifer. Not Jenny. Never Jenny.... My entire family calls me Jenny.

It is just cruel to do that to your OWN child. I mean sure we are all getting enjoyment out of it.. but come on does anyone think they did. I don't understand parents some times. LOL Jeff Jeffries, Jacob Jacobsons, I wonder how many others there are out there???

I can add another couple - I'll never forget the salesman that sold my mum a sofa lord knows how many years ago. His name was Andy Anderson. And through work I was in touch with a guy called Dave Davies for a while.

Like you guys said, WHO DOES THAT?!

Gah!

Huh---I always thought EYE was born at the height of "Jen"dom! Perhaps I was on the leading edge since I was born most of a decade before you were.

Being a Jen can be handy - at least people understand me when I say my name (they've heard it a time or two before), they can typically ALMOST spell it right (how hard IS it?) and if someone wants to hush up a room full of people, all they have to do is holler "Jen." All then Jens (and everyone they're talking to) tend to look - that's a lot of folks! ;)

Glad to be here among Jens! :)

Very strange :) I have a friend named Jenny and I have no idea if her real name is Jennifer or not. I've always called her Jenny. Maybe I'm a little sympathetic because people misspell my name all the time - Jenean.
