quoted from Derrick Jackson-The Boston Globe

-For public consumption, said Derrick Jackson, President Bush now professes to believe that global warming is real. But his administration continues to censor government reports that actually take the threat posed by a warming climate too seriously. The lastest scientist to be censored is Julie Gerberding, director of the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, whose report to Congress on global warming last week was heavily edited by the White House. Gerberding's original report said that global warming would increase "the frequency, timing, intensity, and duration of extreme weather events, such as hurricanes and floods," with the poor, the elderly, and racial minorities taking the brunt of the impact of intense heat waves, droughts and storms. All of that was deleted by the White House. so that the remaining report contained only some reassuring "government garble" about how existing programs "provide a solid foundation to move forward." Muzzling scientists is an insult to every American's intelligence, but you can be sure the White House will keep doing it. Bush has only one goal regarding global warming-to leave office without doing anything about it.-

Just this week I read about a small town in Tenessee that has run out of water. They are now spending their fiscal budget trucking water in from Alabama. A Mexican state suffered flooding this week. 70% of the state finds itself under water. We are poised for the worst tornado season in history.

What do you think? Is global warming real or is there not enough evidence to promote a response from the government?

I am not a scientist (and I don't play one on TV!), so of course I cannot say for sure if it is happening or not. However, from my perspective, there is enough evidence to support the theory that it cannot be ignored. The fact that this administration is so anti-science appalls and embarrasses me. The fact that so many voters are NOT appalled at the censoring of scientific research conducted by their own agencies is just beyond my belief. This country seems to be so asleep sometimes.

Obviously the government needs to stop censoring, and yes, it should be continuing the research and responding to it promptly. Nothing significant will happen to stop the changes in our atmosphere until they do. We need to be leading the world in dealing with this, not dragging it back in time.

Well if you are not a "real" TV scientist, then I'm not listening! (Just kidding) It's scary the amount of information that is censored, it's like we are living in another country. I'm naive, I know no government tells it's citizens everything...but goodness this administration just wants to keep everything a secret.
