When the summer growing season ends, I forget what it's like to work hard. From March-September, my workday starts around 7 a.m. and doesn't end until at least 7 or 8 at night. Literally, we are putting in 13-14 hour days and that's what it takes to run an acre of vegetables, two greenhouses, a small CSA and participate in a Farmer's Market and raise animals. Keep in mind, it is basically me by myself and my husband AFTER he gets off work from his full-time job. Needless to say, as soon as th…

Oh, I am so woefully behind on keeping up with these posts! My own blog is difficult to keep up with, but now I have all these new ones to read and update - whew....I'm sure you can all feel my pain.
Do you ever feel like you would just like to shut yourself in a room for hours and read, read read, post, post, post? But, as we know, our families may object.
Here on the farm, we are busily adding composted manure (cow & chicken) to our high tunnel greenhouse and our acre of f…

Is anyone else quickly jotting down blogging ideas to get ready for the 'brain-drain' known as NaBloPoMo? Literally, there is a small notebook tucked in my purse, in my coat pocket and next to the computer so when an idea creeps in, it gets written down before it gets lost among the other crazy shit that is banging around in my head. If you are starting a list, want to share it? We'd love to hear it and possibly steal some of your ideas!

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to your nice welcome to the group. Posting sure takes a long time, especially when I have three different "homes" on the web. Anyway, I've just a little more "webkeeping" to do, and then I hope to check in with the groups I've joined, and read everyone else's blogs.
Just heading over to read your blog. How cool that you are an organic farmer! My husband and I have always said that we were going to run an organic farm and raise milk goats in the San Juan Islands when we retire.... it was sort of a joke, being that is the farthest thing from what we do now... but as that retirement age draws nearer, that option sounds more and more viable! I'm interested in hearing about your day to day life!
See you around,
Trish
