About Me:
I'm in my 40s and I own a cello. I don't play it, but I like the fact that I could (draw the bow across the strings and make a noise) if I wanted to because it is in the back room. I'm looking forward to NaBloPoMo because I like a challenge!

My main blog

Not acting anymore

Isn’t it interesting that when you let go of something, the something happens! I’ve been appointed to the job I’ve been doing for the last year (after acting for two years in a similar position the years before). My boss wrote a lovely affirming email and sent it to my colleagues and today has been very pleasant [...]

What to say to someone with cancer

It’s horrible news. It takes you out of your comfort zone. Your easy relationship of the past has gone. Suddenly all the rules have changed.  Your friend could be dying.  Suddenly you don’t know what to say. Big C is in the room. But have the rules changed?   Has your relationship altered? Does your friend feel different about you? Of course, the [...]

Stopping to smell the flowers

Not that south west orchids smell - well not that I know of - but it occured to me today that I haven’t seen even one orchid in the wild this year. In fact at all. And I love these little treasures of the bush. It makes me feel good to find them.  Feel good to know that [...]

The perfect Christmas card

Sent to me by a colleague who knows me too well. Maybe there’s another that would suit you? To go with maybe this tee-shirt as a present?

Good thing you can’t read my mind

Don’t you hate it when someone asks you:  ”Well what do you think?” Be it a new car, tv, dress, pair of jeans, website, quality of card play or haircut it is a minefield most of us fear to tread. Cars for instance.  For me they are a form of transport.  Sure I love that new car [...]

The discipline

A final note. The good thing about NaBloPoMo is that it gets you into the habit of posting every day. It's like anything. If you practice every day you get better. Now this site is not my main blog - go here for that - but it was still worth posting in both places IMHO. Thanks. :)

Ah all done!

There was something very satisfying in seeing a little calendar full of bold numbers indicating a post for every day of this month! Thanks for the inspiration.

:)

One day to go

Hmmm well it seems as if November has gone very quickly. Tonight I can't get out of my mind a call I received at work. This father wanted details of a crash we reported on the Nullabor. His son is travelling west and he wanted to reassure himself that it wasn't him.

What could I say. Details were sketchy. And now I am sitting here hoping his son has rung him.

Pissed off

I'm annoyed with myself. My daughter, ten, has just come crying to me because she hasn't done her PEAC assignment and it's all too hard. My advice was that she shouldn't sit around watching tv then. But I suspect I've created that environment. Then she wants a fan turned on but she's left hers in another room. I'm pissed off because it's just one more thing she's come up with before she goes to sleep and it's already 9.30. It just goes on and on...

I'm a bit sad today

And I'm going to go to Matt Price's funeral. I didn't know him well but what I knew I liked. And I really liked his wife when I met her before all of this happened. She probably doesn't remember me. He was a good man and was taken from us too early.

Good Luck. My Dad has parallels with you. He makes Cellos and other musical instruments, but does not play them. He leaves that to his girlfriend. Good luck with all the posting coming up.

Definitely don't sell it - it's never too late to learn. And in the meantime it's a lovely cello-shaped objet d'art and you can get warm fuzzies from looking at it. Did your son continue playing?

You own a cello, use the name CelloBella, but you don't play it (yet)? Of course you can join, and I'm dying to find out why!

I always pictured myself as this serene pregnant woman playing the cello, long hair flowing in the wind..... the real story was me alternating from club music and the Beatles White album. But I still wanna learn the cello :)

Thanks for the lovely comment re my blog!

Just thought I would say hi. My blog is about playing the cello. I hope you will take up the challenge of the cello sometime. It is such a wonderful instrument!
Have fun blogging.

Hi Trish,
I haven't even thought about what I might do but as I generally blog every day I'm hoping it won't be too big a stretch. :)

Hi there

Thanks for visiting my blog, and commenting. Isn't that funny, I wondered if painting the calamine lotion on would be easier and less messy. I've just been pouring it into my hands and sloshing it all over the place (they haven't liked it much, it's COLD MUMMY!!!)

Good luck with NaBlo. I don't know how I'll go but in the past when I've tried to come up with something new every day, 99% of it is pretty awful. I think I'm going to try to write to a theme, maybe a word starting with each letter of the alphabet or something. And try to keep things short and sweet. Unlike this very long comment. Anyway... nice to meet you!
