The Sleek Profile

That handsome, smiling guy in the picture is our greyhound, Marlin. Since he's the best looking member of the family, I figured I'd rather look at a picture of him when I log on.

Merlin is an ex-racer. We adopted him from one of the many groups in the US that promote greyhound rescue and adoption. Greyhounds are a wonderful breed; loving, companionable, gentle and world-class couch potatoes. Any greyhound owner will tell you -- Adopt a Greyhound, Loose a Couch!

Unfortunately, most greyhounds in the US are bred for the greyhound racing industry. When the dogs fail to measure up to training standards, or get too old to race, they are killed. Often, the killing isn't pretty. Heaven forbid the kennel owners should spend $25 to have the track vet euthanize them.

Practical Magic

Over the weekend, my Sweetie and I watched the movie, Practical Magic. I'm not usually much for movie and/or TV takes on Paganism or Witchcraft, but we were both intruiged by the blurb we'd read on Netflix and decided to at least give it a try.

Pagans in USA Today.

I was quite surprised to see an article on page #3 of USA Today about a witch school. The article actually has some balanced coverage, even if it does reveal the discouraging attitudes of some Christian locals, who consider the witches evil. Read more at Deceived and in Darkness.

First Steps on the Path

While blog surfing tonight, I came across a post on Owl's Court about the start of that writer's Pagan spirituality. She mentions the realizations that brought her to an understanding of the validity of following a Pagan path.

We have owned two retired racers, and had great experiences with them. As a matter of fact, we will probably adopt again soon.
