Wake up the freakin' roosters why don'tcha?

I was standing on my back porch this morning early (like 4 am), admiring the bazillions of stars that are visible again now that the moon is in the last quarter for the month. There was a low-lying fog visible at our neighbor's house, and their security light shining on the cars below made the whole scene look a little eerie, like something from a Sherlock Holmes story set in one of the seedier sections of London.

We have train tracks across the street from our house. They run all hours…
