Profile Information

Name or Pseudonym:
Suzanne Suzannadanna
About Me:
Hi! Just call me a freak of nature, since I'm the person that has weird health issues. Fortunately, I have a family that distracts me from this. They're funny, weird and goofy. We like to go places and eat. I loves me some wine, especially red.
I've got two boys and they are great at swallowing my time. My older son has Asperger's Syndrome, which just takes on a detour away from Normal. That's okay, normal is boring.
We moved to Florida three years ago and love life without snow.
My husband and I share a blog in which we comment about food, wine and the restaurants we try.

30 days, plus 31 more!

Well, I am about to add my entry to my blog today (www.suzannesez.blogspot.com). I came over here to NaBloPoMo to check in on things and found a discussion about Holidailies. After 30 days of posting, I have signed up for 31 more.

Why do it? It looks like fun. I'm definitely in the habit of writing daily and if I do it for two months solid, perhaps I can make it so much of a habit that it will remain long after the commitment is over.

17 days left and a ton of topics in the bag of tricks

When I started NaBloPoMo, I didn't want to follow a theme. For me, it would become boring. Boring means I don't want to write and you don't want to read what I write.

At the beginning of the month, I held six 'topics in reserve', in case I had difficulty summoning the muse on a day (or several). Then a funny thing happened. Every day thus far, there has been a 'blog fodder' moment. Perhaps this writing every day has primed the wellspring of topics, for I have even come up with more topi… Continue

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, it's back to work I go

With no small amount of trepidation, I returned to work yesterday. More details when I go to plug the laptop in somewhere. Finally, someone left a table with the coveted plug. (for a place that offers free wifi, they're kinda lacking in that department!) I'm back and ready to tell the tale.

The return to work worried me on several different fronts. Am I crazy for returning at the holiday time? Maybe. I'll be standing a lot and it's obvious that eight or ten hours on my feet cannot be… Continue

Live from Camping: BRRRRRRR!

Originally, I wondered if this would be the day I fell out of the NaBloMoHo's 30 day posting spree. We have been camping and it wouldn't have made much sense to leave the campsite just to make a blog entry.

However, one thing has helped keep me on track. I helped organize an online baby shower for one of my friends. There are a group of about 20 of us that have a little group amidst a b

Graduation: 2013? How'd that happen?

Gameboy's educational path may appear to be the same as other kids. However, there's a lot that goes on to ensure his academic needs are met that the average person does not see.

As a result of his diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome six years ago, he is classified as an "Exceptional Student" by the state of Florida. We entered into the state three years ago, comfortable in the knowledge of how the IEP (Individual Education Plan) process worked and what we, as parents, needed to bring to t… Continue

Taking that first step down a different path

As noted in yesterday's update, I'm returning to work Monday. To prepare for this, I attended a management meeting this morning. (Getting up at 6:30am? Major Suckage) Apparently, they had no meetings while I was gone.

I walked up to the front door, and unlocked it. The stock manager immediately comes up and gives me a bear hug and tells me he's really missed me. He's not an overly demonstrative person, so this really was a nice gesture. (We talk music, media, travel and all sorts of stu… Continue

Perceptions

It's funny how you look at things when you don't have the whole story.

For instance, when I was younger, I'd look at seemingly able bodied people alighting from the car parked in the handicapped stall in front of a business and roll my eyes. That person didn't seem like they needed the space and my perception was that they were borrowing someone else's car and decided to take the parking perk along with it. In a case of cruel irony, at 29 years old, I developed a DVT and earned a 9 day… Continue

another meme

This one came from CajunVegan, and it's got more questions (and more of the interesting kind, too). A NaBloPoMoBoPo (or Bonus Post)

1. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
Closed. The bedroom closet holds kitchen electrics and I don't want to look at them.

2. Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotel? Sometimes, and always at WDW. A few years ago, th

Decisions, decisions

A few months ago, I added a site meter to my blog. It was fun to see how many people were reading, where they were coming from and how long they stayed. I knew who it was by location, because there were 10 or 15 regular readers. They're a vocal bunch. If there wasn't a new entry in three or four days, they would come out of the woodwork and IM me "Hey, what is up? Why no post?"

Most of the time, it was life getting in the way. I've got plenty of things running around in this head to put… Continue

Daylight Savings Time

I'm convinced our forefathers were evil. This Daylight Savings thing is proof of it. Why would you change the clocks twice a year and wreak havoc on parents everywhere? Oh, I know it was done for the farmers, but honestly, wouldn't the farmer do the same work regardless of what time the clock said? The rooster crows, you respond to it, right?

As a younger person, I embraced the fact that this hateful change occurred on Sunday. Most people had a day to adapt, me, I had the later Sunday s… Continue

WOOHOO! It's time once again for NaBloPoMo! Last October, I was intimidated by the idea of posting every day.

Since then, I have not missed a single day of posting! See, after NaBloPoMo, there was Holidailes, then Blog 365. Along the way, I've made some awesome new friends and gotten hooked on posting daily.

I'm looking forward to finding new bloggity goodness to read and making more friends along this year's journey.
