- About Me:
- I'd love to be pithy or poetic, but I'll just tell it to you straight: I'm a woman whose learned there's a whole lot more to "happily ever after" than those fairytales ever tell you. I'm spread all over the parenting spectrum with kiddos age 24, 21, 19 and --surprise!--almost 7! I strive to both live my life honestly and to write honestly, in hopes of encouraging others. I don't fully understand God's grace, but I am oh-so thankful for it. I treasure my family and my friends. I prefer tea to coffee and jellybeans to chocolate. And laughter is one of the sweetest sounds on earth.
My book Baby Changes Everything: Embracing and Preparing for Motherhood after 35 was published by Revell in August 2007.

What's a Mommy-Come-Lately?
If you're a pregnant woman over 35, you know what the medical community calls you: Advanced Maternal Age. One of my friends, who was pregnant with her long-awaited first child at 46, was called an elderly mother by a nurse.
Wretched, wretched label.
Mommy-come-lately is closely related to the term "Johnny-come-lately." It's an outdated term that means someone who recently started a job or activity and has suddenly become very successful.
So, put a little maternal spin on that,--late-in-life motherhood--and you now have a mommy-come-lately: an older, successful mom.
