Profile Information

Name or Pseudonym:
To Kiss The Cook
About Me:
I am a twenty-something PR girl experimenting with good food in the kitchen, keeping tabs on the edible industry, planning phantom adventures to far-off lands (I do take one of them a year, but I like to plan for 5-6) and harmlessly lusting over the things I cannot yet afford when I come across them online. I also live in Wicker Park, a great neighborhood on the Northwest side of Chicago, so I can typically be counted on for restaurant reviews or at least remembering what I ate. This is my second NaBloPoMo and I love the change in the last year, largely because of it.

About Me

Books: I usually have two or three going at once which is a nasty habit that's come about this last year. One is nonfiction (Guns Germs & Steel), one is bedtime (Eat Pray Love), one is short stories (The Best American NonRequired Reading of 2004) and one is straight up fiction (Water for Elephants). Also a Harry Potter person and feel the need to identify as such. And oh the cookbooks...although I'm a snob about good food photography.

Music: Thomas Dybdahl, Matt Pond PA, Sufjan Stevens, Rilo Kiley, Cary Brothers, Feist, Ray LaMontagne, Blitzen Trapper, Decemberists, Andrew Bird, The Changes, Ben Folds, Jeff Buckley, Jose Gonzalez, assorted eighties, power pop, classic rock and yes, even country.

Movies: A lot of foreign and indy for some reason. I guess I figure if I hear about it and it's not even in English, it must be pretty good. Life Is Beautiful, Like Water for Chocolate, Lovers of the Arctic Circle, & Paris Je T'Aime are all on the short list. Also anything from Christopher Guest, Ang Lee or Wes Anderson. The Notebook as well
just in case I was trying to hard to be intimidatingly intellectual. Don't be fooled.

Good Things: Cold skim milk, dry wit, HoneyCat, new music, natural sunlight, crisp fall days, lavender, movie previews, mischief

It's simply madness. I'm not sure I'm okay with waiting one whole week.

At least there are re-runs on ABC.com :D
