My Strategy for November

Oh dear god! Strategy? I was planning on just sitting down and typing up the first thought(s) that came to my mind. I remember last year I resorted to posting the occasional picture/meme/quiz. Aft... Read More »

Writing Prompts

We could just start a group I suppose. Something like "Blogger's Block" or simply "Brainfart". We could use it as a brainstorming session. Read More »

Dude, I baked a freakin' pie. All by myself. Go ahead and call the authorities if my whole family falls sick shortly after Thanksgiving. It will SO likely be my fault.

Hi Andie: I posted your suggestion to for Stress Less Thanksgiving ideas on my blog today. With proper attribution and a link to your blog of course.

Thanks for contributing.

Cheers, Elizabeth

No time like the present to start anything, especially writing. :)

Hi Andie, I also saw your plea for help. I'm doing Fun Monday (there is a group on here) and Friday Feasts which I don't think is a group on here (but I'm kind of adapting it to my own preferences and not "officially" participating). I've also started an ongoing project where I scanned in a ton of embarrassing childhood photos and I'm writing commentary on them. So far, people seem to love it.

Good luck to you!

Also, when I feel like I have nothing to write about, sometimes, it is because I haven't done anything. Getting out and doing ANYTHING automatically creates a story. Extra points and a better story if you do something creative or interesting. AND posting youtube videos counts!

Whoa, looks like Ning doesn't wrap long strings of characters.

A writing exercise I have had great success with unblocking myself is called "Why I write" The idea is to just let yourself fill the page with minimal to an absence of conscious critical thought.

Below, I'm pasting URLS of two personal examples, so you have some idea of what fruit the process bears.

Good luck and fight for your own creativity!

Hi, Andie. This is my strategy for NaBloPoMo:

Sundays: Free day.

Materialist Mondays: About some of my favorite products and other stuff that I love.

Tasty Tuesdays: About food and/or recipes.

Wordless Wednesdays: A story in pictures.

Thursdays: Free day.

Five for Fridays: Lists of five on topics of my choosing.

Self-portrait Saturdays: What I wear, what I eat, what I do, what I think.

Maybe this will give you some ideas. Good luck!

I also saw your cry for help.

At www.writeanyway.com I post a NaBloPoMo prompt a day. Hopefully those will help.

Andie - I saw your yelp for Writing Prompt advice but it didn't seem to be a forum topic in Writing Prompts so I decided to leave my suggestion here. A few months ago, I was at a loss for posting topics - not NaBloPoMo connected, just too much real world stuff going on that couldn't yet be blogged - so I did this:

http://www.petithiboux.com/archives/cat_five_hundred_words.html

I took photos from my past that had funny stories attached and I wrote exactly 500 words about them. FOr a project born of desperation and closed-lippedness, it was incredibly well received and when I announced I was doing NBPM, a lot of my readers suggested I pick it up again when I need material!

SO! That's my advice.
