About Me:
By the time this adventure starts, I'll be fifty...
I will have lived for "half a century" in Belgium, Europe.
English is not realy my everyday language nor am I used to writing!
Anyway, I love challenges, and I 'll give it my very best...
I have a digital camera growing out of my arm, I looooove to take pictures!
I discovered blogging only last year, when I started my first blog in Belgium, written in Dutch.
I was terrified of computers before, but I learned all my computer skills through blogging!! Yes, I think I learned quite a lot since then!
So I took on the Nablopomo challenge to try to blog and express myself and learn a new language while doing so.

I was invited to join

And now, at the end of November I'm a little bit more self-confident
due to the support and the encouragement I got out of the comments from my new friends.
I wanted so much to keep in touch, that's why I started a new blog, written in English this time.
I hope to welcome some of the friends I have made through Nablopomo on my brandnew website!

Bloemetje voor mama

IMG_9241
Mama,

Goh!
Bedankt hoor Sinte Pieter!!

Three litlle sisters

The oldest sister had just celebrated her fiftieth birtday.
They had never been able to be together like three little sisters anymore since they were kids..
So the three little sisters took off to London.
They laughed, and they giggled, had coffee at Nero's

The secret I can no longer keep ...

I have been thinking about this for days.
Worrying about it , hesitating.... ,
what if I do, and what if I don't?
I started blogging in English on this Nablopomopage.
It started out as a challenge, trying to find out if I could blog in another language than my own.
Post something every day, and meeting new friends who would read it, and maybe leave a comment or two.
I have met some very interesting people here, and now,
at the end of November, I am afraid I am…

I would if I could ...

So here I am, sitting here, staring at my screen again.
Trying to find out what I want to write about,
and trying to find the right words again.
I guess I could always write about my cat, but I don't feel like it at the moment.
Nor am I in the mood to talk about Morroco,
or London for that matter.
There is an awesome story on the Laguiole knives we bought once,
during our holliday in France.
That was a real funny story, but nah .... don't feel like it.…

Gig Street

Let me introduce you to our favourite jazz band, ... Gig Street.

The singer of the group is Leonard Blair, born and raised in New Orleans,
but living in France since a couple of years.
Wherever they play, the whole street starts to swing,
and when they start to improvize together, ther's no holding them back.
Playing New Orleans Jazz, out on the street, just like that.

The dentist, the spider and me

I had a dental appointment today.
One whole hour of torture.
It took like for ages.
There was a little spider on the ceiling.
Right there, above my head.
I could see it looking down at me.
Me, that poor human creature being tortured down there in that dentist's chair.
Spiders have no teeth. ( I think, they don't huh? )
Happy little creature, that little spider.
It moved further away, towards the window.
Bye bye, little spider!
By the time…

Happy Thanksgiving!

"Thanksgiving, it's all about family, friends and a whole lot of food, fabulous food."
That's what it says in the latest edition of Marth Stewart's magazine.
Thanks, I already knew that much!
So? Every time friends and family celebrate it IS all about food, right?
Oh, about the turkey. That too. People eat turkey at thanksgiving.
Yes, well we ( people in Europe, well ... Belgium I mean) eat turkey at Christmas, so?
Leafing through that magazine, t…

How to blog and (try to) be a domestic godess ...

Oh dear!
I find myself counting time in hours left to blog this week!
On Friday, which is my day off, I have a dental appointment (one whole hour! Brrr!), and a meeting with a friend. We already had to cancel this meeting twice,
so there's really no escape from that one either!
On Saturday I work, and on Sunday we meet the family. There's another birthday celebration (for me and my sister) at my parents house!
Which rem…

Gosh! Getting twelve comments yesterday, awesome!
That really gives me the feeling I'm settling in here,
that I belong amongst all of you! And that sure feels good!

But there is one thing that worries me though.
I think that my computer can not count!
No, I'm not joking, I'm very serious.

A dééééeeeeeelicous recipe for applepie!

Sitting at my kitchen table having coffee with the cat on my lap
is the moment of the day for me to make plans,
write things to do lists and shopping lists, and other little memo's.
There's a pile of magazines I usually never get to read,
exept for some bits and pieces here and there.
But I just cannot help myself buying them anyhow.
Leafing through them inspires me
and that's how my apple pie recipe was born.
It tasted delicious in my head, so I baked it…

And the day was not over yet...

Hell no, the day was not over yet.
I'm happy to inform you all that I did get that ironing finshed after all.
That being done I congratulated myself and went right back to blogging.
After all, I did have to check my comments, didn't I?
On two different blogs, that is!
Okay, so I read a few blogs for a while,
joined a new group called women over 50.
Well, I am now after all, am I ?
I uploaded some pictures, and got bored a little.
So, I thought it would…

and when my husband woke me up, it was already eight o'clock.
I work from nine till twelve on thirsdays.
I got home two minutes past twelve.
Lucky me, my work is just around the corner, thank God for that!
So I got home, half of the day already gone.
And then I checked my two blogs, yep, this one ànd my homeblog.

Time flies...

I could use twelve more hours every day, and still want more !
I don't know why, but time slips through my fingers like sand on a beach.
November is halfway gone, only six weeks till Christmas,
can any of you imagine that?
When I was little, days were endless.
When I reached the age of seven .... I wanted to be ten.…

Still the same

It hasn't changed much since I was little.
We walked to the church, my grandmother and me.

On the narrow roads between the fields,
all it was was two little chapels and a church.

Ice cream with a view

Okay, I'll admit.
I'm in this way over my head, and I was feeling just a little bit unsure.
There are two tiny litlle words glaring at me every time I visit my page here.
NO COMMENTS it says.
Gosh! No comments for the last three posts!
Gosh! I must be doing something wrong here?
I know, writing is so much harder for me than I imagined.
I'm trying to catch up with all of you girls and guys,
but I'm just a toddler on the playgr…

Apple pie and Carpe Diem ....

Today is all about cocooning and Carpe Diem.
Only doing what we want to do, and enjoying just that.
I've bought some delicious things, and they're waiting in the fridge for me to cook them.
I was having coffee this morning in my kitchen with my cat on my lap,
and I imagined a recipe for apple pie.
There's still some apples left from the garden of my parents,
and they taste like no apples ever did since I was little.
Maybe it's because my dad picked them?…

Good heavens no! It's a symbolic name for what my life is all about.
It is about creating a little bit of heaven here on earth, just by enjoying the little things in life.
It means, little house in heaven, if you really want a translation!

You WORK in a cheese shop? We should certainly consider some sort of a trade. I could send you some sand, I suppose, but that's not really what a beach is about, is it?
At 12:16am on November 19th, 2007, Sandra Hanks Bentoiton said…
But think about this ... we don't have any good cheese. I would trade you a day at the beach for a cheese a chocolate plate, a nice wine and some great coffee.

That smoked eel thing looks wonderful! A couple of mentions of apple pie didn't hurt, either.

By the way, it's always green where I am ... and warm. In fact, today it's sweltering and I've had to turn the aircon on in my office. My husband took the day off and has just returned from the beach with the kids.
