A year ago I had just ended a relationship, had moved 2000 miles to a state I didn't like living in, and for the month of November decided to abstain from alcohol, eat better, run every day, do yoga, do NaNoWriMo, and just for fun, do NaPoBloMo too.

I remember when I first starting using Photoshop, I felt overwhelmed by the set of tools and tasks you could accomplish with the program. The learning curve with Photoshop can be steep, but there are many excellent books in the bookstores, which focus on learning to use PS with digital photos.
Peachpit Press publishes Photoshop CS2 for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide and Scott Kelby has authored The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers. Both are excellent books and are available for CS3 as well, but I would visit the bookstore and see which book(s) fit your learning style.
My computer has been down and I just got it up and running in a stable state. However, I need to reinstall Photoshop so I can access my photographs. I use a Nikon D100 most of the time and shoot in Nikon NEF, thus I can not just up something from drive. The other issue is I am normally the person behind the camera and there are not many photos of me.
However, here is a link to the one and only photo of me online and taken last October at Crater Lake.
