It always blew my mind to walk through the library and see how many laptops - and I mean 5+ years ago when they were even more costly - and backpacks would be sitting unattended on tables. Not even tethered. And then students would act surprised when there was a wave of thieving. *sigh*

Yesterday I walked by a lost-and-found table loaded with really, really nice stuff. Shoes, jewelry, electronic gadgets. Do you think they just let the stuff drop from their fingers when it gets too heavy? I'm also in VA, by the way, so maybe it's a Rich Kids Who Attend Expensive Schools in Virginia thing.
