I'm No Longer Relevant

For about a year I've been doing this telephone music survey. I got suckered into it one day ("My opinions on today's music? Sure!"), and by the time I figured out who it was for (Q101), I was signed up to answer them regularly.

Every week or two I'd get a call from them, and I'd have to listen to about 25 snippets of music, rate them from 1-5 and then say if I was "tired" or "not tired" of hearing the song. Once we finished with that,…

Have Restless Legs? Call Gamblers Anonymous!

Last night the Boy and I were watching "60 Minutes" and "The Amazing Race," and during one of them, a commercial came on for a medicine to combat Restless Leg Syndrome. Pharma ads are always funny because of the long list of possible side effects. We were stunned, however, to hear "possible urge to gamble" for this one.

Dough!

Last night, I sadly noticed that the Saturday French Market set up at Nettelhorst School wasn’t there, which meant no more fresh pretzel bread for the season. One of the stands there is this bakery from Geneva, IL, which sells some really great pretzel bread and scones and other baked goods. It’s my Saturday treat, and I could only get it during Farmer’s Market season.

Four Out of Five Dentists Don't Recommend Stress

Not that I know that statistic for sure, but at a recent dental checkup, my hygienist noted that I had a “little more plaque buildup than usual” this time. We tried to figure out why that could possibly be. Was I eating a lot of sugar? Not more than usual. Not enough vegetables? No, I’m actually doing a little bit better on that. Hmmmmm…..what could it be?

Like Money for Water

You know of my extreme hatred for dumb/lame money-saving tips that are guaranteed to save you hundreds, if not thousands of dollars a year.
