Melissa, thank you for looking at my photos! It took a while to get them tagged and described. The story behind the cake has 3 parts. My parents were teachers and my birthday is June 5 -- right in the middle of the end of the school year kerfuffle. Once I got old enough to understand that my mom was just too overwhelmed to make an elaborate cake while messing with report cards and Kindergarten graduation, etc., I started getting Dairy Queen ice cream cakes instead, which the whole family decided was actually a nice trade-off (I hate to say it was preferable, but it kinda was... NOTHING against my mom's baking, which was awesome!). So the cake is a DQ ice cream cake. Rick and I collect toys, so that partially explains why it's covered with vintage a Fisher Price bride and Groom, but then there are all those chickens... We both have ADHD. A few years back, Rick saw a t-shirt that said something like "People think ADD is funny but it's actually a very serious problem with attentio--Hey look, a chicken!" So ever since then, we've used "Hey look, a chicken" to guide our easily distracted attentions back to whatever we're supposed to be focused on. Not that we're worried that we'll be distracted from each other!! It's just one of the things people we know, know we say.

I did say it was a long story, right? ;-) Sorry 'bout that...
