I did it!

I had never heard of this phenomenon before November 5 or 6, and yet I was able to do it. That's when I signed up for it. I HAD been blogging steadily prior to the 5th.

Any other year, joining this thing already in progress wouldn't have worked for me. But this year? Huge, huge things changed that.

I had a lumpectomy on November 6. I had already been planning to blog about the esperience, my fears, my recovery, my thoughts, my baggage, ALL of that, long before I'd heard of NaBloPoMo. It's even reflected in my last post of October. So really, this was about the most perfect thing with the best timing to fall into my lap.

Surgery went well, by the way, and the pathology of my lump came back completely negative. I am cancer-free. Which means that the rest of the month has been a big celebration.

Whether I win something or not, therefore, is immaterial. I figure I have already won. I'm cancer-free. I was an irregular blogger before, and now I have proven that I don't have to be. I've posted some of my art and creative work -- that was the whole reason for doing a blog!

Still, I wouldn't mind winning. If the NaBlo gods are listening, I'd LOOOOOVE the Subversive Stitching package, or the sock zombies. Really, there's so much that's so cool, just winning would be great. But again, I'm very satisfied with the fact of accomplishment.
