Jennic's Profile

Jennic (sweetisu)
Female
United States
Name or Pseudonym:
Jennic (ends with a C, not E)
About Me:
Entrepreneur. Daughter. Wife. Mother. Immigrant. Cancer Survivor.

I participated in nablopomo last year, and finished with flying colors, didn't win any prizes but felt pretty good that I crossed the finish line! Besides, I "met" a lot of cool people and have been pals with some ever since.

I was diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma in 2000. I was 24. We had just gotten married 10 weeks prior. I went to cancer hell and back but I didn't blog during that time, I wish I had but I doubt it very much as I didn't even have the energy or the desire to do anything except puke and sleep. I had chemo and radiation lasting 10 months total. We have 2 kids (after cancer!). Life is good now.

I started blogging 3 years ago, after I had a miscarriage. I was shattered and wanted to find peace and strength and sunshine again (and I have!!!) Blogging gives me an outlet to pour my emotions into words, it lets me jot down the silly things that our kids do, and some other nonsense stuff.

I have an engineering degree. I worked for about 5 years wearing funny bunny (clean room / space) suits. I don't want to do that anymore and haven't for about 3 years now.

I recently launched my new business, you can check it out here: www.KangarooBoo.com. As a cancer survivor and a parent, I am committed to making a difference in children's lives. We've always did fund raising events, and we are extending that into our business mission as well. KangarooBoo donates a portion of ALL SALES at ALL TIMES to children related charities, and the customer picks which charity s/he wishes to support (from our list) and where the money will go during checkout. My ultra cool husband wrote the entire site himself - that includes the graphics, layout, UI, etc etc. He used Ruby on Rails that he self-learned. He ROCKS. I uphold the non-tech side of the business, so if you have any questions, comments, and or suggestions on the site features or products, please contact me. I do hope you will find something for the little beloved little ones in your life at our store.

I love to sleep. But I don't get to sleep much.

What do you do to relax, wind down, de-stress, etc.?

When I'm stressed out, I need to be alone. At the end of the day, I need a few minutes alone. When I need to wind down, I like to be alone. Notice a pattern there?

Being alone gives me space to gather my thoughts, recharge myself, and refresh my views. I prefer complete silence or I would be distracted by whatever noise is being emitted by whomever or whatever is nearby.

However, it's kinda hard to have any alone time until everyone else in the house goes to sleep. You see, I h…

Thanks for the wonderful compliment! I'm kind of new to the hobby, so feedback like yours makes my day.

I've really enjoyed reading your blog. Your story is amazing, and those babies are completely gorgeous. How do you keep from eating them up?

Cancer is one of those stories that if you haven't had it, you know someone who has... I'm glad yours has a happy ending! I look forward to reading more of your blog.

Hi, and thanks for your thoughtful comment. My mother is having some complications from treatment, but her doctor believes there's a good chance her cancer will go into remission. She has reason for hope, and this is good. :)

Going from 2-3 is definitely harder. But worth it! I guess the biggest thing is that with just two, you can have one parent per child. Once you add a third one in there, someone is always running loose trying to put lipstick on the cat. In the end, I wouldn't trade it for the world, and I would have more kids if I could.
