National Blog Posting Month
It's difficult to accept criticism when it's dead on. It's an entirely other experience to hear someone criticize you when you know the comments are irrelevant. But in that moment that someone very close to you offers you a very pertinent piece of advice and you know they are speaking the truth about you, there comes a moment of internal pause. I have quickly realized that I joined this group (nablopomo) much, much too late in the month. Alas, I am usually late. I have also realized that I feel no pressure to post daily. This is sad. Ahh....the Department of Motor Vehicles. I do have to admit, I love that place. It's such a random sampling of the population. Rich, poor, young and old alike are all slightly irritated as they stand in line to test or smile for the camera or pay silly amounts of money so that they can drive in style. It's mostly because of the way that people use the words "bring" and "take". I can't explain the problem. I know that I studied the phenomenon in 11th grade English class. I know that it is a viable problem. I wish I knew someone smarter than I that could help me go to bat for the proper use of these two useful words.
Suppose your friend said to you, "I'm already going to the school this morning. Do you want me to bring your kids along with me?" Would there be anything wrong with that…
