Zoo - I love zoos. I admit it - even though I also feel a bit guilty about it. That's why I'm particularly thankful for zoos that have a focus on protection of endangered animals and those that make more than adequate habitats for the animals.

Zippers - My grandmother died a decade ago and I "inherited" her sewing notions. (I was the only one in the family to even goes near a sewing machine so her stuff was shipped to me.) There is a lot of lace and bias tape that I will never use but I do find pieces to incorporate to projects I'm working on. And then, there are the zippers - lots and lots of zippers! In a rainbow of colors and in varying lengths , some metal and some plastic. So far, I've used one in an art project. I do think about different ways that I might use them but as of yet, they just stay sorted by color in bags in the cupboard. But I do think about them often and that means I think of "Nanny" often - and for that I'm thankful.

Zaniness - For the most part, I'm a practical and even-keeled kind of person. I've tried to be a lighter more carefree, more playful but it usually comes across as zany or at best silly. Friends that have observed the behavior have been known to ask: "How much wine have you had?" I'm looking forward to embracing my more zanier side in 2008 and hopefully/thankfully without having too much wine!

Zigzag - I can't imagine a sewing machine without the zigzag stitch. Of all the specialty stitches, I probably use this one most frequently... I'd miss the others if I didn't have them... but I'm thankful for the simple zigzag.

Zzzz's - Back from Seattle and really happy to be back in my own bed - the best feeling in the world! I'm thankful for the great night's sleep.
