NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

When I was young one of the things I wanted to do when I grew up was to be a novelist. (I think that was somewhere in between being a stewardess and a pediatrician) I even have a thick, hand written notebook in a box somewhere n the garage iwith my first novel in it. As I recall it was science fiction with cats as the dominant race. When I proudly showed my work to carefully selected victims viewers they couldn’t seem get past the strange, hard to pronounce names of my characters to read the actual story. Crestfallen, I put down my ink pen and went on to other things.

Now, a couple few several years later, I heard about NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). The goal of this project is to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. I thought about this…very briefly...and then signed up for the other option, NaBloPoMo. NaBloPoMo is short for National Blog Posting Month. For this project, all you have to do is post on your blog. Every. Single. Day.

I do post fairly frequently. But I seem to have a bit of a problem with commitment. (Well…I have kept Shaun for twenty years or so, but I think that’s mostly because he is like a stray puppy that won’t go away once you feed it). Well, maybe it’s not commitment that I dislike so much, as it is obligation. I don’t like to feel obligated. There, I said it.

I may have put down my inkpen years ago, letting go of the dream to be the Great American Novelist. But I do use the keyboard to blog somewhat regularly. So, as of November First, by my own free will, completely un-obligated, I will post everyday. (Of course, there’s no knowing what I’ll be posting…).

I seriously think I must be nuts to take on this non-commitment/obligation!
