What I've learned...

...is a whole lot about the art, craft and science of blogging! This NaBloPoMo thing has made me look long and hard at what my blogging is all about, what I'm trying to achieve, and what I hope my readers get out of it. I originally thought "Okay, a post every day for a month - sure, I can just write about my life and stuff, the wee man, throw in a few photos etc...easy!". But it's not that easy, and I have so many good blogs I really admire, and some of them are coming to read me now, which set me thinking (and blogging) about researching blogs and blogging and sourcing ideas and managing postings.

And suddenly, there's a whole new vocabulary for me. Can you say FeedBurner? StumbleUpon?Digg?Technorati?Google Reader and RSS feeds and Atom?PageRank?Del.i.c.ious? So many new goodies to play with!

This so me, really, though the medium has changed. My whole life, whenever something has tweaked my interest, I've got in and found every book or magazine that could teach me something about that subject. Now I have the internet, which I've always felt is like having the world's biggest library at my fingertips, and following a new interest is so.damn.easy! I love it!

Of course, all of this, on top of reading all my new blogging friends, means that the laundry is sitting unfolded, and there is nothing out of the freezer for dinner yet, and I'm just about to run out the door to pick up the wee man from preschool...

Go on, tell me to get a life...!?
