I am reading Naomi Klein's breath taking book The Shock Doctrine: Disaster Capitalism. Although i was familiar most of the events in the book, it is still so disturbing to read it in a creative and intelligent book. The ongoing wars and economic crisises is not all about a narrow money headed thought. It is a well placed and theorized paradigma of Chicago School and its neo-liberal corporatist followers. Therefore the lack of theoratical critics in Anti-Globalization movement finds its way out of Naomi Klein's books. But still there is a need to theorize the movement in a universality. The need of this theory is not all about being a political scientist. But it is also to find a way of counteract against neo-liberal politics and its catasthropic results. With a universal theory of counteract, the left could find its way out of this deadlock. Therefore we have to stop for a moment and learn. Altough it sounds like running away from action, the need for a universal discourse is urgent.
Naomi Klein tells in an interview that she believes that there is a chance of a better capitalism with Keynesian economical discourse. But as Slavoj Zizek put it rightly in his speech at my university, the problem of capitalism is not only about the crisis and so on. But the copyright problem of medical and genetic materials, ecological threat and wars are imposible to disolve in a liberal capitalist world. Neither it is a neo-liberal hell nor a Keynesian economical project.
The book is perfect and it gave me the feeling of Eduardo Galeano's 'Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent'. It shows us how Marx was right when he emphasized that although the ongoing problems could be about everything, the place we fight is always economical and the attacks comes only from there.
