National Blog Posting Month

Anyone else stalk their own site?

Am I the only one that stalks my own site regularly to see if I got a comment from one of my faithful readers? Or do you not have the time for such nonsense. ...just checkin' to see if I'm normal or a weird-o. [insert nervous laugh here]

I check my stats and comments every time I am on the internet (largely because a good third of the comments I get are spam), but it is pleasing to see I had 1000 visits to my blog in the last fortnight or so.

No, you're normal -- bloggers thrive not only on the writing but on the feedback from our peers. Comments make a blog live and people who respond to their commentors are the best bloggers of all.

So, come on NaBloPoMo bloggers, come and comment! I promise to respond!

I seem addicted to my own site A Wild Rideand its related blog. I feel that I have a service to provide through my site and want to make sure that SOMEONE is taking advantage of that service.

Of course, I should be doing client work first. Oh Well.

:raises hand:

I'm another who has comments emailed. Although I say this is because I want to approve comments asap, it is really because I like to see comments. It makes me feel like I'm fulfilling my goal of becoming the best undiscovered blog ever. ;)

I get instant emails when there's any activity on either of my sites, and I hear the "ding" and read the comment or click the link to go to the site. Since I'm sitting here all day anyway, I might as well read something pleasant or funny!

I think we all are curious by nature and it's fun to make new friends and find people who have the same interests. I love to "stalk" other blogs and check on mine regularly. I think it's also part of the "am I being accepted" scenario where we all just want to be loved in this world. I am such a geek!

Hah, I do all of the above and thought I was being obsessive. Well, I am, but I feel much better knowing others stalk their sites. Maybe you do it in a less obsessive, more serene way or something.

I have a weird problem/non-problem...to the extent that I am building up any audience at all, it's been 99% subscription. Hardly anyone goes to the site. I started Essentral on Sept. 1st on Blogspot and the a month later moved to Quaboo. I pretty much lost all the actual visiting audience from the move even though I tried to avoid that....

Help! I do stalk my own site, but only one person has looked in and commented. Thanks Amanda!

Maybe it's me. Maybe it's my site. Who knows?

I guess it doesn't matter much anyway, since I am having fun posting this month!

Oh wow, now I feel much better - to know that I am not the only one to 'stalk' my blog!!. I am pretty new to blogging, so am all fascinated and curious about where/who are my readers, their visit length, referrals, entry pages, exit pages - In short, I see everything logged in my 'Sitemeter'. Am I a wacko or is it just psychological, I donno.. But I like it, so I do it..:)

[sigh of relief] I am overwhelmed by the amount of people who are just like me! I am constantly checking my stats, making sure readers haven't removed me from their RSS, checking my email to see if I received a comment, wondering if people thought I was funny or rude or weird, and if I was funny did they laugh out loud? did I make them spit out their morning coffee from trying to contain a laugh? totally obsessed.

Does anyone NOT stalk themselves is what I'd like to know? I'd use to check my blog for comments all the time and then had them sent to me email account. But now it's the stats I'm constantly checking and I'm recognizing certain people coming and I get upset when I see they don't leave a comment! Yeah. We have our neuroses. That's what's makes us SPECIAL see?

Oh and while I'm at it, here's blatant self promotional moment: I think yesterday's entry "Randomly Weird Stuff" is worth the detour. You're more than welcome to check it out here: http://fromsmilerwithlove.blogspot.com/ Comments appreciated but optional, of course.

When I first started blogging I did stalk my blog but then other blogging tasks started taking up my time. Now that I have set up a brand new blog and have to start again with pagerank etc I am stalking more regularly again. So I reckon it is not weird at all for a blogger. Some of my friends and family think that blogging is weird in itself though :-)

can you even really "stalk" your own site? isn't it more like lovingly keeping tabs on... =) i have noticed that when i don't get any comments for a while i start to feel a wee bit down. (in fact, i don't have any comments on my last couple of posts...hint hint...) but seriously, it is odd how it feels good when a particular post is a comment magnet and others nada.
