NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

So, where are we all blogging from?

I'm in Canada, eh! In Toronto. I'm feeling smug lately because the Canadian dollar is winning the Dollar Race against the U.S. dollar. Apparently this is bad for our economy, but whatever. I'm going to gloat anyway.

I'm in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. But please don't call me the (other) 'n' word, definitely not my thing. Are you in Toronto proper or somewhere within GTA? I have several relatives and in-laws in Brampton and a few in Mississauga.

Technically I'm in Toronto, although at the upper north reaches of the city, which used to be called North York and/or Willowdale. Actually, I prefer to call my area Condotropolis. It's more accurately descriptive.

I am totally prejudiced in favour (Canadian spelling!) of Maritimers. You have the best peeps out East! Much friendlier than your average Torontonian. :-)

I don't disagree with you! However, technically Newfoundland and Labrador is not a part of the Maritimes - that's just New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Those three along with NL constitute the Atlantic provinces - and we are a part of that, no matter how hell bent our premier sometimes is on separating!

Ah, yes, I just looked into this on Wikipedia. Typical Torontonion... I don't know nearly enough about the geography of the rest of Canada. It's good to be enlightened.

I am in the UK. I created this group because the USian arrogance of calling NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo NATIONAL events and groups whilst at the same time allowing international participation seemed very condescending to me. Don't even get me started on the language they speak being called English! ;-p

My extremity of vehemence (big wurdz!) in that first paragraph is purposely exaggerated. I am not in the best of moods tonight but, then, I do have a few real life 'problems' to contend with! I have a lot of USian friends (as well as Canadian, Australian and so on). I am usually much more tolerant than I sound based on that first appearance!

The UK £ is also doing very well against the US $. From what I remember (with my MnSter eaten memory - where MonSter = Multiple Sclerosis), it used to be about three US dollars to two UK pounds but now it is $2US to £1! I have no idea whether that is good or bad for our economy - to be honest and selfish, if I can buy stuff more cheaply online from the US than I could in the past then I am happy! ;-p

Welcome to my first NaBloPoMo group!

What, you mean you're not titillated by the amazing efficiency of US-ized spellings?

When ur blogging at nite with the lite on, don't u find the dropped letters make ur life more E-Z?

Dear US dollar,

I'm very sorry everyone's picking on you. I still love you. In fact, I might love you more now than I ever did before because you're so cheap! Suddenly, trips to America have become shopping sprees, the shipping on Amazon.com isn't quite so heinous, and I have an excuse to horde my extra mao. Never under estimate the popularity of the cheap and easy girl.

Sincerely,
TK

P.S. I would also like to extend my thanks to the U.S. government for single-handedly running "the world's largest economy" into the ground and making all my spending fantasies possible.

Dangerous territory. I shouldn't be listening to talk of how this is really SUCH a good time to go shopping online. Please hide my credit card and don't give it back to me, even if I beg.

But you're so close! And shipping's soooo cheap! How can you resist!?

Did I mention I'm a terrible influence?

Yes, we get a few hours a day. I used to live much further north, where there was no sun at all for the month of December, so this is a nice change.
