I survived Black Friday and came out a hotter man. Albeit apparently smaller.

NaVloPoMo day 24. My girlfriend and I hit an outlet mall on Black Friday to make me look less slovenly and fashion-retarded. Thanks to increasingly obese Americans and the apparel-makers apparently coddling their egos by downsizing their garments, I am now a Small, after a lifetime as a Medium. Maybe it's time to call an XXL an XXL so we know when it's time to quit super-sizin' lunch and dinner.

NaVloPoMo 24 - day # 24 Succoth preparations

video file @ http://blip.tv/file/501455
blog post @ http://www.aliak.com/node/14236

this video was taken on 25/09 - I went to the Mechane Yehuda markets in Jerusalem where there was a special area setup to sell the etrogs (citrons), and reeds. during this time of year, huts are setup around the city restuarants and people's houses - some people live in them for the week. it's serious business choosing the citron - it's meant to be beautiful, without marks.

I'm dying to catch up and watch the videos you all posted yesterday and today. Instead I have to finish a class project that's due Monday. They only way I'll get it done is if I don't let myself watch until I've turned it in. So if you don't see me commenting, it's not because I don't love you. It's because I want to pass my class.

Here's my post for today - it's one of the posts I owe to Heath: remembering

Christmas Fair at my niece and nephew’s Waldorf school

Stayed up late cutting this after getting back from the fair, posted and didn't have the strength to make it here too :)

Original post and comments here

Just a collection of moments from today.

I wish I could have shown you the Gnome House. It was one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen. Amy was awed. But it was way too dark to film. (Even my kitchen at night is too dark to film. It’s the one thing that really bugs me about the N93. I think I’m going to have to stop using it soon, so I can have some fun with colours and night-time filming.)

Anyway, the school is pretty amazing.

Those drawings I show on the way into the main building - they’re by people in Class 9, who are (I guess) 15/16 years old.

It’s not an art school. It’s a Waldorf school - an holistic educational movement set up by Rudolph Steiner in the early 20th Century. More links about it at Twittervlog.tv. It’s pretty interesting.

Also ran into the brilliant and unhinged Jason Jarrett (ABuddhistPodcast.com and ForestRowRadio.com) whom I met for the first time two weeks ago at Phil Campbell’s bash (see here for evidence), and only afterwards realised that we had this other connection. Only saw him briefly, but hopefully have even more excuse to hang out now.
