NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

Who is still going the pace with NaBloPoMo?

With the final stretch in sight, who is hanging in there?

Is this event more challenging than you expected? In what ways?

Or do you find it easy? If so, what's your secret?

If you missed a day or two, did you get back up and keep running with it?

partofeverything, I love your idea of 30 Days of Thanks! That is a truly excellent use of blogging every day this month. I think I'm going to build on that for a personal challenge for next month, because I'm really enjoying this a whole lot more than I ever expected. I'll need to give it a little more thought, but it'll be something along the lines of 31 Days of Giving. Or Caring. Or Creativity. Or some combination of all of them. See? Still requires some work. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Rebecca,

This was actually something I'd thought of doing on my own, but then when I joined NaBloPoMo I saw that there was a Group set up for a bunch of people who were planning to do exactly the same thing! So I signed up! (and then I HAD to do it! Lol!)

Count me still in. After November I will probably go back to posting every other day since I feel some of my more interesting posts are buried under the subsequent days.

One more day to success. Like others, I found the toughest times to be while traveling over Thanksgiving, and during an unexpected illness. Bad planning, I'd say. I'm still not sure whether it is worth it - the noise to signal ratio was pretty high. But I did do two things that made it easier to get that post up every day:
1) I wrote a bunch of half-baked pre-post ideas as I had them, which resulted in a stable of almost-finished posts that I could get up when I was otherwise short of time.
2) I set up my blog for posting from my cellphone, including photos, which made posting while traveling a breeze.

And one last factor due to a helpful feature of NaBloPoMo: the Randomizer. I scored a couple of posts in response to blogs I never would have found otherwise. Some of the most interesting bloggers sign up for things like this.

One more day to go and I'm happy to say that I've more than exceeded my expectations! Last year I struggled a bit but still managed to post everyday. This year, because of the way NaBloPoMo was set up using Ning, I not only posted on my regular blog at SkybellArts but I also posted in the blog area on my Ning page. I joined the 30 Days of Thanks group and posted an alphabetical listing of the things that I'm thankful for throughout the month. It's been an interesting exercise. I've also participating in DrawMo! this month - a drawing everyday in the month of November.

At the beginning of the month I did wonder if I had over-committed myself but I have found the challenge of it all to be rather invigorating. Learning that I could, if I needed to, update my blog using my cellphone reduced my stress and being able to take photos and send them to Flickr using my cellphone made me happy! (Ain't technology cool!)

My only disappointment is that I thought I'd do more mingling, visit fellow NaBloPoMo-ers' sites but I never did seem to make the time. I think the interest groups within NaBloPoMo are great way to build community and while a joined several I could've/should've been more active in them. I suppose if Eden keeps this social network on Ning, the possibility of getting to know other bloggers is there and can grow over the next eleven months! For the NaBloPoMo 2008, I'm thinking about setting a daily goal of commenting on others' blogs (got some time to think about this one.)

My challenge now, how am I going to use this "space" after my post tomorrow?

Oooh... DrawMo! That might be fun to try out next year. Not now though. I am done doing 30 days of ANYTHING for at least the next few months!

I have kept up every day, and I went and signed up for Holidailies. I needed this kick and I'm back in the habit of updating now. Early on when I was new to journaling, I wrote a lot, the first 3 years there are quite a few entries, since then it has slowed down, and this year it was barely any.

NaBloPoMo saved my site, yay!

Holidailies? Is that on Ning, or another social network? I'm having a great time and enjoying my success with this one month of blogging every day, and want to continue the challenge. I think in my case it's best to have an external structure imposed as insurance that I will keep at it. That's why I ask. I'm not expecting to win a prize for NaBloPoMo (though I've been 100% faithful... and I'd dearly love to win the Subversive Stitching package!) but it's nice to have an incentive to try for, regardless of how great the odds. Can you give any information about Holidailies?

Holidalies is taking daily posting to a whole new level. NaBloPoMo was just about posting, Holidailies has very strict rules for posts with minimum word count, type of blog, etc. If you agree to post to the Portal, then you must do it daily. Those who don't keep up, are removed from the Portal List. You should check it out. I signed up, though I'm not sure if I want to do that. If you choose to do Holidalies Portal, you can only upload one blog post a day.

I have made it through the whole challenge. I did miss a couple days, not by my own fault (website down and stuff like that), but caught up on them when I could post again. It was great to challenge myself like this. I never thought I would be able to do this, but here I am. A winner and all. Not only of nablopomo, but also of nanowrimo. I am so proud of myself, that I have treated myself to my favorite snacks. Am going back to eating healthy tomorrow :)

I am happy to say I kept pace easily and happily! :-) When it comes to writing, I have numerous topics to write about so I don't run out of material. Next year I may do my two blogs (one personal, one more metaphysical). Now, that would be a challenge!

Well, I made it. 13 days had one post, 8 days had two posts, 8 days had three posts, and one day had four posts. (Although I am likely to get another post or two up today, so the numbers may shift a little.)

So, the questions are: Will I be able to keep up my pace. Depending on how you look at late night posts and timezones and stuff like that the last day I missed was either Oct 2 or Aug 24. My streak for two posts per day, however only goes back for the past four days.

Let's see what next year brings (also complicated by whether I do NaNoWriMo as well).

This was fun! I wrote smaller entries and didn't put pressure to come up with brilliant stuff every time.

I'm going to do a quick post right now just to get over the finish line, but I'll edit it later this evening with my celebration meal summary!

I'm still in it! I technically missed one day. (It shows on my blog that I missed two, but it was only because my time setting on my blog was incorrect. That really chapped my hide!) But there are at least as many posts as there are days in the month of November! I am just now about to go in and make my final NaBloPoMo post. This will have been the first time I have blogged every single day. I think I may stick with it permanently! Well, at least I will do my best. As we all know, there are just some things that cannot be avoided. I had a blast NaBloPoMo'ing and plan to do it again next year! Thanks!!

I made it! Does the happy cat dance.
It was way more challenging than I thought.
I had to put a lot of things on hold to get it done.
Support and understanding from my family helped.
PTL I didn't have computer problems and I didn't miss any days so I didn't have to get back up
and running.
Thanks.
