We're sorry, but this discussion has just been closed to further replies.
We are a mere month away from beginning the next step in blog jogging. It is my intention that this group will be able to merge into another group on ning.com and we can kick of Blog365 in the comming weeks!
For now, let's begin to discuss some of the details that need to be worked out before the challenge begins. The floor is open to anyone.
The first thing I want to open with is concerning vacations and lack of internet access for more that 24 hours. We may have to make a few concessions for these kinds of hangups. I don't want to be so extreme that I am the only one running the marathon.
I love the prospect of a year long blog project. I thought I'd add my two cents into your conundrum while I'm here. I am involved in a 365 photo project on flickr and they usually handle things like this by: allowing people that are on vacation to upload for the prior week when they get back (of course nablopomo had the option of backdating..so that would help) or just skipping that time and making up for it by extending their year - some even chose to count those days as part of their year and picked up where they left off. Same went with lack of internet connection, as I experienced a couple of times. I realize it does affect the idea of 365 days...but its a thought.
With blogging, it is possible to write while not at a computer or offline. So my thinking is that the rule would be that if you CAN'T get to the internet, do your writing offline or on paper, then add it as soon as you are connected again.
Just as NaBloPoMo has stated, Blog365 would be a merit based challenge. There is no way to police this kind of event, which is good, because I wouldn't want to. That's not the point.
One of the reasons I decided to do NaBloPoMo (and a few other writing projects) was because I'd been in kind of a funk with blog posting and writing in general. So, it was kind of nice having the motivation of getting through an entire month of daily posts.
I like the idea of the 365 thing, but yeah I'm slightly concerned how that'll fly with vacations or getting sick of lack of Internet access, etc. So long as there's a method to handle a necessarily lapse in posting ON each and every day, I could definitely get on board with this idea!
I could probably get behind this. With NaBloPoMo, I did more post in Nov. than I did in 2005 and 2006 combined. I was considering trying to post at least once a day and I'm never away from the internet, so I don't even have an excuse unless I wind up on a deserted island with no electricity.
I just finished posting on my blog a few minutes ago and thought I would get a few days off for meeting the NaBlo challenge. But now this new challenge is here and I cannot resist. Count me in!
I think I'm going to give it a try. I really enjoyed posting every day and it may actually have become a habit. It helped to have some draft posts waiting in the wings for those days when I needed it.
My first thought was 'are you crazy' followed quickly by 'hey, that's exactly what I need'. So I'm in. Just to be certain as my brain is working on half a tank this morning, this starts January 1st, 2008. Right?
You can definitely count me in. It was a lot of fun actually posting every day.
I do have to agree that even when you can't get online, there are ways to blog and publish later. I didn't have internet access for a few days this month. I wrote my blog using Windows Live Writer. Then when my internet came back up, I just published them.
