Last year, I posted a video a day for over a year, but I've gotten lazy about that. I have to get that creativity (tho they were never very creative) churning again. I like the idea of chatting back and forth with each other. So far this is such a small group it shouldn't be all that difficult.
Routine? Surely you jest! LOL. It was actually a mix-up of all sorts of things, including video of puppies we were fostering, my 88 year old mother's recollections of her childhood and her relationship with her 9 siblings (for a video family history), old VHS tapes that I transferred to DVD and whatever else came along. It helped that our children all grew up performing and making videotapes that I wanted to preserve.
I'm having some intestinal problems today. I wonder how interesting a video taken in the bathroom would be. Probably like going to work for Missbhavens.
I'm going to start a new Forum Discussion alongside this one, just for posting videos. If you want to, you can use it to post permalink URLs or embed videos directly into Forum Posts.
Yes, we have RSS and a tag (Navlopomo07 ?) but it'd be nice for casual passersby to be able to click on the forum to to see what's being done.
The Ning Video page only allows you to either Upload, or link to Youtube/Google video. So this seems like a better option.
I might even create another Forum Discussion where we can each list our blog and feed URLS for people to find us more easily than having to look at all our Profile pages.
Like Bev and Mike, I've already started trying to get back into the groove of posting every day, even though it's October 27th and we're not starting until November.
I enjoy video blogging most when i feel i can just post little moments without reassessing them or caring whether they're substantial enough. Like these pigs: http://twittervlog.tv/?p=189
That's much harder when i'm posting less frequently than it is when i'm posting every day or even more than once a day. Viva NaVloPoMo!
Don't want to be rude, but I don't see a problem about posting a vid each day. No one expects high-quality masterpieces and we always have our equipment with us, so all we have to do is take the thing out, shoot, roughly cut and upload.
I used to edit a vid for two hours. Now I do it in 10 minutes. And I haven't lost a single viewer (audience is still firmly at 12)!
Oh, that's not rude! But I don't have one of those fancy phones. I wish I did, but I don't have cellular access half the time, anyway. My time-sucker is compression. With the exception of posting video to Facebook, I have to compress whatever I shoot. Editing I can skip, but I'll always have to give time to compressing, uploading to blip, and posting to WP. Can't get around that. I have a hard time posting weekly and I have WAY more free time that most working adults!
But, dammit, I'm in it! Yay, NoVloPoMoNoToGoDowhatever!
I record with my Olympus 700 + 1GB card, so no fancy phone either. A small photo camera with video mode, so why not try carrying something like that with you? It outputs MOV files which you can easily cut and, whatahell, just name the file and FTP it to blip :)
You have a very good point here: skipping the "blo" in NoBloPoMo. I'll save lots of time just posting to blip and stopping right there! Duh!
My Xacti is portable, but doesn't record MOVs. It imports the MP4s to iPhoto which I then have to move to iMovie. Also a timewaster. i'm sure there's some way around this, but I haven't stumbled on it yet. Also, it creates duplicates of movies all over the my hard drive. Very annoying.
