Anyone else stalk their own site?

Am I the only one that stalks my own site regularly to see if I got a comment from one of my faithful readers? Or do you not have the time for such nonsense. ...just checkin' to see if I'm normal or a weird-o. [insert nervous laugh here]

Hee, hee. Well, when I get comments, they're sent to my Gmail account via Blogger. So I always have my Gmail open and instantly check comments when I see them in a new email. Before that, however, I did stalk my own site, as you described.

So I'm not alone!

I'm so fascinated with stats and access logs and how it looks to the outside world. But yeah, I'm constantly looking to see if I got comments (wordpad sends it to my gmail account) that I need to approve or deny...

I just need more people to read my blog....

I am, but mostly out of habit from when I was with a really bad host and I checked it multiple times a day to see if it was down. Right now, I'm trying to do a better job at answering the comments I get, so I've been checking more than I would.

I am a stats fiend. I'll cop to that. I care more where the visitors are coming from than how many. I recently changed blogging services, so I lost a bunch of readers. I keep telling myself that's normal, but it still sings a little to see your traffic half of what it was.

I like to see what brought them (I have a very small membership group) so it's curious to see what people searched for that brought them to my site. Then of course being the dork I am, I try the search myself...hahahaha

ohh yesh. 'where they came from' is the common name of the disease scientifically known as stats syndrome. i suffer from it too. they say there's practically no cure.

You're definitely not alone there. I'm addicted to watching the stats for my blog. That's half the fun of blogging, I think.

Yea, I gotta figure out how to get comments emailed to me through my service. And the stats is a whole other thing that makes me crazy... love it.

I'll admit it - I check for comments, and often. I also check my email about 314 ... wait ... 315 times a day. I'm slightly OCD.

Reader feedback is part of the fun of blogging, though. :)

Oh, I hope you are normal, because I do that, too. Although, I am notified by email if anyone leaves a comment, so I am usually checking my blog stats.

Remember: normal is BORING.

I totally stalk my Movable Type interface for comments, and I check my stats more often than I should. I'm always so excited to get comments, too...it's a little sad, actually, the enthusiasm. I must not have been loved enough as a child or something.

Well guess we are two to be 'unique' :P

Though I do get email notifications, I never check them :| I prefer going to the blog and see if there are new ones :|

Then I view my emails... actually, just see through if I missed anything :|

Guilty of charge!

I'm supposed to get e-mails for comments but it only happens about half the time. I always get notices of my own replies, however. :/ I only check my stats two or three times a week, though. On four separate sites. I have to check feedburner for subscribers, blogflux for a map, Google analytics for long-term trends, and MyBlogLog for day-to-day specifics. I'm not obsessed or anything, though...much. [heh heh]

I just look at the "Weblog News" section of my forum for my comments updates. Though it must be said I have to do a fair bit of spam clearance - though at least by not getting comment notification e-mails, I don't have to de-clutter my e-mail as well.

I look at my visit counter every so often, but having a BBCode-based blog system that doesn't allow scripts limits the variety of stats I can track substantially (for instance, I've already established Google Analytics won't work). That said, I've noticed I've had about 500 visits in the last fortnight - which is a lot, given that my blog's had fewer than 5000 visits since last August...

I not only stalk my own site, I stalk my friends' sites and groups that I belong to. I don't have a life. I'm always hoping someone will have visited somewhere and said something interesting. I sound so pitiful! Actually, I used to have a life. Then I started having some serious health problems and my hubby was admitted to the nursing home. So my main contact with the world is through the 'net. I visit hubby (semi)regularly. I am very optimistic that my health problems are improving so that I can go where people actually show up physically and interact with them there. You know, get a life away from the computer. In the meantime, I'm a cyber stalker. ;)

Well....since my last post I've checked maybe 10 times to see if anyone commented.

No one commented, but I lost the one reader I had subcribed via feedburner.

'Tis a sad day in blogville.

I never heard of the term "stalking your own site," by now that you said it, it makes us all feel a little odd. I've even stalked myself on my cellphone, as if not reading a comment IMMEDIATELY will make my entire blog blow up, or something else dreadful. So, yes, you are normal... for a crazy blogger.
