We're sorry, but this discussion has just been closed to further replies.
To get this group started, how many tattoos does everybody have? I have eight, my last one added on October 6th. Everytime I get one, I think "this is the last one" but before I know it, another idea pops into my head and my thoughts are all a buzzin' with what/where. I know everybody says this (and unless you have one, you just don't know) but it's so damn addicting (and expensive)!
I have two tattoos. The first I got when I was just 18 and the second I got a year ago. There was a very long stretch in between them. I have been thinking about another one, but it might be a few more years before it actually happens.
I have one tattoo that I got 9 years ago on my ankle. Ever since, I've wanted to get another but wasn't sure what I wanted. I'm really, really, REALLY thinking of getting one on my right wrist of a word written in sanskrit lettering. It would be small (an inch wide and long, max) and right now, the only thing holding me back is the thought that if I'm in a 'professional' position at some point, it would probably not be acceptable.
What should I do...wait, this may not be the best group to ask as I can almost hear the responses of, just do it...go for it...etc. =)
I just had my first tattoo that wasn't on my back done last month. It's on my inner right wrist going up my arm. Make sure when you get yours done it's up higher than the creases at your wrist when you bend your hand towards your elbow. If that makes sense. My tattooist told me that it will not heal correctly if it's done there. I see now why he moved it up. He has to retouch the bottom tattoo just a little bit. Usually a 3/4 sleeve will cover most arm tattoos. :)
Well, only you know what kind of profesion you want to enter, it migh be best to get something that can be easily expsoe with short sleeves or something backless or something like ethat.
When I am working, even in short sleeves (I'm a cop), you can't see my tats.
I'm in the Event Planning business, however, don't know that I could ever work in a 'super professional' environment. I like planning parties and events and the companies I work with now (2 different ones) would be fine with it.
Funny, one of the companies is a Christian company, yet their very open to personal expression and don't care about tats or piercings. It amazes me that other companies are so closed minded about these things.
I really think I'll do it before the end of the year. Here's a question...does anyone have to cover their tat with make-up on a regular basis and if so, what do you use? I interviewed for a position with a General Surgery Residency Program and covered the one on my leg with makeup so you couldn't see it through my pantyhose, but would hate to do that every day.
Thanks for the info, Sara. I'll keep that in mind when I get mine.
BTW--did anyone see LA Ink the other night where the guy got a tat on his neck, but wasn't sure if his employer would be ok with it. He called her and she said go for it, he'd still have a job. That rocked! The tat was in celebration of his son who had just been born. =)
Hey, I have 5 tattoos, or 7 if you count each one separately. I just had my last one done a month ago. I'm going in on Monday to have it touched up. It's very addicting. I already have my next 5 planned out! You can see them all on my blog. :)
I currently have two tattoos. One on my left arm and one on the right side of my lower back. I have plans for two more though. I just need to save up the funds for it!
I have two. I am a designer and I had one of my designs put on my thigh. The other one was done without any thought. It's two gecko's that make a circle like a continuous circle. That one is on my back and I regret it. I cannot see it!
I actually also have a brand. I burned an image I made into my skin. The guy shaped the wire and heated it up to a million degrees. Anything THAT hot cannot give me an infection. Then all I had to do was take care of the burn, so it was my responsibility. But I am white. Really white. And scars on me barely show up. So it was a really dumb thing to do.
Hi everyone! Wow, this discussion group really picked up!! I posted my first tattoo above, but here is the design I want for my second. It is in the Tahitian/Marquesan style. Because my first tattoo was pretty big, and I experienced some pretty uhhh righteous pain up near my spine, I'm not scared to get another ... so I'm actually thinking of getting a few of these gorgeous birds. I want to fully think through what it means for me first. Obviously wings/bird = flight/ freedom/ travel (true to life), but what about the number of birds? Hmmm.... still thinking it over.
I have one I just got in March 07 it's a "<3" on my heel of my right foot. It's kinda small, but I want to get a backpiece of a tree which will come in due time when I have the moniez :)
I have four currently. Two good sized pieces on the upper part of my right arm, and two quarter sleeves on my left arm that are a part of a larger sleeve that I will get done as soon as I have the money to go back to my artist in Nashville.
18, I think, from my middle finger on down to my ankles. And oddly, they don't get seen all that much. Except the one on the middle finger. Rush hour on the 405 in LA ensures that that one gets a lot of visibility.
i suppose technically i have four. i have lots and lots of plans for more, i just always seem to end up spending The Tattoo Fund on things like rent and electricity....
