NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

I am guilty of judging a book by its cover.

I find I don't even look at a person's blog if there is no avatar with the name. Yes, that's discriminatory. I admit it.

My second criteria is to click on the people who have an interesting photo/picture.

Third criteria is to click on an interesting name.

The most interesting name I recently ran across was ladylungdoc.

What's your criteria?

Usually I look for people I've met online already rather than inviting someone who I know nothing about to be a "friend." But when lovely people like you agree with me on a discussion I started I figure we've got at least one thing in common so why not start up a "friendship!"

I am not "friending" people here. Rather I a periodically load the randomizer and subscribe to the rss of anyone who looks interesting. That way I get to judge them based on their actual content, as well as getting a sense of who are the "serious" bloggers (on livejournal/xanga, blogger, wordpress, have your own domain, does the theme look like someone puked on my monitor?) versus the hobby-ists. I read a lot of non "serious" blogs, but after November I will probably hang on only to my serious bloggers, as I am actually trying to learn something and hopefully leverage my blog into something that actually gets looked at by more people than my boyfriend and family.

I tend to friend those whose Blogs I regularly read.
Other than that, I will accept most people who have asked to be my friend.
I'm nice like that.

I'm new to this, so not a clue. I think I'll click randomly on blogs probably based on username or silly pics and friend those whose blogs I enjoy. (Could I have written that any wordier? Sorry.)

i have no clue how this friend thing works. i suppose it's like another forum that i'm in. since i only joined this lovely society yesterday, i only have one friend. as for how i pick friends...well, if i feel i have something in common with the writer, i suppose i would initiate friendships. i go into the blogroll and pick a couple from each letter of the alphabet, to read their blogs. it's a very random thing. i don't care if there is a picture or fancy graphics...what is important is the content. so, that's my story.

I usually go for the interesting names. I don't know about the friend part tho...what do you mean by this?

If I get an add request I'll probably approve it. There are times I haven't, but as a rule I accept. I don't read the blog unless it's interesting though.

Hey Cardiogirl! I'm like you, I like interesting names. I clicked here, though, because I remembered you from BE.

An eye-catching avatar and similar interests will usually do the trick for me! I'm open to meeting new people, but I'm more likely to wait for them to come to me, too. :)

I only have 2 Ning friends. One is somebody I'm friends with in real life and the other introduced me to Ning and NaBloPoMo and we found each other through our blogs. As for friending other people, I'm not opposed to it, I just don't go out of my way to do so.

I was surprised by the first friend request just after I'd joined, and had a look at her blog to learn a bit more about her before I accepted.

That has sort of set the tone for me - I tend to get more requests than I initiate (though I have invited a few people whose picture intrigued me and blog hooked me, or who I found as friends of bloggers I already liked), and I always look at their blog to decide.

I've got so many great blogs to read, as well as my own writing, surfing and irl activities so haven't got much time for serious social networking...lol!
