NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

My idea for this thread was that people could add a writing prompt a day for the month of November; if anyone's struggling for ideas on any given day, they can hit this thread for a prompt. Responses in thread should be prompts with dates, not responses to the prompts that people suggest.

...for Thursday, 1 November:

What made you decide to do NaBloPoMo? Did you do it last year, and if you did, how did the experience go for you?

-or-

1 November is an important holiday in several religious traditions, used to honor the dead and hold celebrations for them. How do you honor your dead?

...for Friday, 2 November

What's your favourite holiday? And your best memory from this holiday?

Are people into this? Because I'd hate to be the only one thinking up prompts for the entire month of November. Please, add things! Get us a few days ahead!

That said, for 3 November:

Americans: what's coming up in your local election on Tuesday, and how do you plan to vote?

Non-Americans (and people not interested in the above prompt): what's your favourite childhood book, and why?

I'll add a couple......

For November 4th:
What's your most embarrassing moment?

For November 5th:
Talk about your pets and describe their personalities.

No! You aren't the only one into this...I only found you today, but I promise to contribute and not just use you for ideas! :-)

OOoo...I just found a good one over at SundayScribblings.

For November 6th:
What was your first job, your worst job and your dream job?

man, my mother's cooking has already provided several post-worthy reminisces here & there. check out her killer flan recipe (and her killer wit) here.

that being said, for nov.7th: there's a theory that any handwork skill dies in 2 generations. in other words, if your grandma knew how to spin wool into yarn or your granddad knew how to carve scrimshaw, and nobody of your generation learns these things from them, that skill is lost. what cool things does/did your grandparents do that no one else in your family does, that the world will miss out on?

..for 8 November: Let's talk about faith! Are you a believer? Agnostic? Atheist? If you're a believer, what faith do you follow, and how did you come to be a member of that faith?

One for November 9th!

What did you get into the most trouble for when you were young?

For 10 November, have you ever been jailed/imprisoned/arrested/detained? What landed you in the hoosegow, and what did you get out of the experience?

For our more law abiding bloggers, have you ever thought about breaking the law? What do you think would drive you to break the law?

11 November: are there any particular foods which you associate with specific memories? For example, I associate curly fries with going to the dentist as a child, since my dad would always take me to the local burger joint to celebrate when I didn't bite or otherwise abuse the dentist. Use your food memory to give your readers a glimpse of yourself.

12 november - write a haiku describing the day.

but if when you're done,
your poem leaves you unfulfilled,
explain your haiku.
