Listening to CS&N singing about changing the world has me wondering why it damned well didn't stay changed.

I don't think it actually ever changed. After we got out of Vietnam the enthusiasm for change somewhat waned, especially after the draft ended.

Now it's looked upon by the younger generations as an old people, hippie thing

apathy. we sat down on our apathy and haven't gotten back up again

So, it's our fault?

"If you wanna end war and stuff, you gotta sing loud", and forever?

to a large degree, i'd say yes.
think back. we changed the world!
then we looked around, said "oh this is good"
lost our momentum and here we are.

Not exactly. We invented stuff that continues to change the world, produced some pretty impressive leaders and permanently and significantly altered the status of women and minorities.

We also catered to our children, spoiling them rotten and giving them little incentive to put their own precious butts on the line for the betterment of others.

Some things change, some things stay the same, But we hippies must keep trying!

Let's change the world with nablopomo perhaps!!

Whatever works!

Must say that one year later I'm proud that my oldest daughter, now 39, is for the first time in her life politically aware and stumping for Obama in North Carolina. A new wave is cresting in the generation behind us, and I'm liking what I'm seeing.

nablopomo most certainly can't hurt, and perhaps will help. We do what we can, sista!
