NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

Multiple posts in a day

Are there rules (or "best practices") for multiple posts in a day? Are we expected to have 30 NBPM posts by the end of the month, with other non-NBPM posts scattered here and there when we're feeling more verbose, or should we consider anything we blog this month to be part of NBPM?

(I don't know if this question will make sense to anyone else. Blame it on the flu shot!)

Hmmm. Don't think it really matters, as long as you have at least your one post for each day.

I was under the impression that you need one post on each day. I don't think it matters if you post more, but I would question the idea of posting 3 things on the 3rd and calling it posts 1-3 to make up....but that's just me

As long as you have one post each day, that's all that matters. You can't make up any days by posting 2, but it's certainly not a penalty to have more than that. If you a have a theme you're following and want to challenge yourself into making sure you have 30 posts for that, then go for it, but there's not a set "30 for NaBloPoMo" and then other non-NaBloPoMo mixed in.

what about the location of the posts? does it have to be here or can it be in your, already established, blog?

Your blog! You're more than welcome to post it here, but the whole point is to blog for 30 days *for you,* and if you have a blog already, then post away right there. Make sure you have the url listed in your profile (you can also add your RSS feed to your Ning profile and it'll automatically post snippets of your entries from elsewhere). If you happen to be randomly selected for a prize, she'll check your blog to make sure you've posted all 30 days and you're set. No fanciness or being required to post here.

I think it's one per day, not just a total of 30. Today I wrote two entries but didn't post them both on my blog. Just posted one for today and the other will get posted tomorrow.

Yes, the whole point is at least once a day. 30 won't cut it.

I don't know the answer, but I'm going to guess that anything you post as long as you post once a day, keeps you in the running.

I hadn't thought of that. I see other blogger titling their posts "day one, day, two, and so on." I'm not. Should I be?

I haven't been. It's the doing of at least one post a day that's important, I think.

I don't think it matters. It shouldn't anyway should it? If you were writing a blog anyway, you'll just be doing it more frequently, and inspiration to write can happen more than once a day, or less ;)

If I have a spare idea, I start a draft and put the concept in it to develop on whatever day I am short of ideas. That way I don't use all of my fabulous thoughts up this week and am left scrambling for a topic on the 18th! I suppose that, if I come up with enough drafts for the month, I could post more than one a day but usually I'm off to other projects once I've blogged for the day.

I didn't find out that this month had started until November 4th. I am missing November 2 and 3 due to a personal tragedy...one of the few things I stop blogging for. I will still be counting myself as having won if I complete all the days I knew of. :-)
