NaBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month

Hi, I've been trying to figure this out on my own, but I seem to be CSS-negative. Could anyone tell me how to embed the NaBloPoMo Badge on my Wordpress blog? I'd say - Widgets box, but there is no such option on there. Argh.

Is that really ALL you did? Are you sure you don't have some sort of magic mojo going on too? :) I had to go peek to make sure you've got the same bottom of the line wp as I do and if it really worked. Sigh...mom always did like you better...

That's really all I did. If you look at my url, you'll see that I am using wordpress, but it's hosted somewhere else. Maybe that's the difference? (For example, my url is www.thecasualperfectionist.com and it is directed to www.thecasualperfectionist.com/wordpress until we can get my design up and running.) To be honest, I don't know much about hosting, etc...my hubby does all that for me. But, I honestly just copied and pasted that html embed code into a text box on my wordpress page...But, he did tell me to sprinkle some Magic Mojo Dust on my keyboard before I started...I bet that's it! ;)

hmm. i'm in the same exact boat. i use wordpress and am hosting it on wordpress, though i'm redirecting my URL www.wrekehavoc.com) to it at the moment. and i did what you said. and it doesn't even appear :( girlfriend, you must have some amazing mojo :-)

Ah, that explains things. I don't have my own domain name like the two of you do (mostly because I'm *still* pouting because I can't have any of the ones I want!)

I'll just sit here and continue to wait (im)patiently for some kind and talented soul to design an awesome badge that will work for folks like me...

I did that, and all I got was a link. What did I do wrong? When I go into the presentation page again and click on the text box to see the code, all I have there is the link code. The rest of it disappears.

What happens when you try to paste the badge into a regular post? (You have to paste it in on the Code section, not the Visual section.) That's how I figured out how to do all this...just trial and error. My Tech Guy (i.e. hubby) is extremely busy, so I had to play around with this on my own. I started by posting all my badges into a regular post to see what they'd look like and then I figured out how to put them in a Text Widget.

Every Theme in WordPress is different, and what's working in my Theme now may not work in another one. This makes me a little nervous, because I'm getting ready to change Themes, but it is what it is...

You may want to check out the WordPress Support Section and see if they have any ideas...I wish I could be of more help!

I have a wordpress blog, too. I have widgets on the template I'm using, but all I get is a link to this site, no badge. Short of bugging a friend of mine who's really good at coding (she's recovering from abdominal surgery), I don't know how to do it, so any suggestions from the population at large would be a great help!

I've uploaded a little custom widgets file for you. All you do is add the badge code where it says 'Place your Badge code in your between the single bracket quote thingies', make sure to leave the little ' things in, save it and upload to your your blog dir/wp-content/uploads directory then activate it in your AdminCP/Plugins page and it'll appear with all your other widgets in your list. A little compilicated I know, but the only other way to do it is to add it manually to your sidebar template file and you'd have no control over where you put it (ie either above or below your widgets, but in between).

Any problems give me a shout, Bob!

Sorry just read all the replies and noticed this is for wordpress.com users and sadly I can't help there. If you host your own WP blog you can do it the way I suggested, but sadly not if you use wordpress.com

I am still working my way through the replies and trying a few things, but I am a fellow Wordpresser having troubles with the badges.

Did anyone get this result? I tried to have the bedge there, but it just ended being a text link with a working link to my page anyway. So it sort or works but just isn't as flashy. Will keep you updated.

the problem for us wordpressers who are **hosted on wordpress** is that we can't upload the pictures and then link to them like everyone else does -- we don't exactly have a readily available place to upload. and none of the badgemakers wants us to eat up their bandwidth by linking to them (which is understandable). so basically, we can make a plain text link in a widget. i threw up my hands a few weeks ago after attempting my way around this one. i couldn't make myself very clear then to the kindly badgemakers about our inability to upload and then link. unless you are hosting wordpress on your own server, i don't see how any of us can do this.

of course, i would jump up and down if someone proves me wildly incorrect :)
