Doesn't get cold enough to bring plants in... Southern California. But I do cut back heavily. I LOVE gardening! Thanks for starting up the group! Anyone know how to get fruit out of young citrus trees?

I'm in Los Angeles (zone 11/Sunset zone 21). Hopefully, we won't get that horrid freeze again, so I won't have to worry about protecting any plants. Today, I just ripped a lot of stuff out.

We just bought our house in Dec., and the backyard was a mess (look from the house):

By June it looked like this (looking toward the house):

In August (looking from the arbor to the backyard):

By Sept., I was tired and overwhelmed by the nasturtiums, basil, marigolds and cape honeysuckle that were taking over my garden. I also got powedery mildew everywhere, on my cantaloupes, sunflowers and westringia. I cleaned all those up last month, and the mildew was all over my ginormous kale and kohl rabi. Today, I pulled out 4 zinnia plants, 8 marigold plants, 7 4 o'clock plants, the kale, the kohl rabi and a bunch of the nasturtium. (Even though I have tons of pics of the garden, I don't have a pic of the newest changes yet!)

Now, I'm looking to plant some lettuce, cabbage, maybe some broccoli and brussels sprouts. I'm also looking into a way to organically get rid of my lawn AND amend my soil, magically in two weeks. LOL!

We have a frost warning out for tonight, so i have taken the plants in pots into the house overnight. These first few cold spells do not last long, so they don't need to find a permanent indoor home yet.

My community garden plot is stripped and ready for winter, and I've brought in my basil plant from my fire escape, hoping it will last during winter. I want to get some great houseplants but I don't have a convenient sunny spot for any...
