Video ideas for NaVloPoMo

Thought I might as well start a thread of ideas to get our creative juices flowing...or rather, to keep them going until the end of the month. Jump in and share yours/add to the list!

mine, so far. these are meant to be stolen!

-post old, bad work you are ashamed of (or maybe old but good work ;-) )
-remix old work
-show how to make a favorite recipe
-....next!

this is a great idea for a thread
...ummm....

how about just posting interesting stuff that happens during the day?
remix other people's work
how about your day in 5 second increments?
How about talking to each other?

What about...
sharing which videoblogs you watch and why
something unusual or unique about where you live
talk about your favorite book
people who influenced your life or are influencing your life

Okay...I'm just brainstorming. Some of these ideas might be good and others not.

I was inspired by Dennis Poulette's idea of posting your day in 5 second increments, but couldn't keep my increments to 5 seconds. I still think it came out well.

see my attempt here: Incre-mental

Please try it! I'd love to see a day in your life!!

(also, I'm posting to keep the idea thread visible without delving)

I would like to see everyone show at least three items from their home's "junk drawer" (the drawer where you keep small miscellaneous items and personal effects) and briefly tell what the items are, or maybe tell a story about one of the items - and it would be best if you show the contents of the junk drawer on camera as you rummage for the specific items you want to display. I *love* junk drawers!

Another idea, find one really interesting photo from when you were a kid, show it to us, tell us the story of it in 3 minutes or less (ie, force yourself not to ramble but to express the heart of the matter)

Oooooh! I don't think I could contain myself to just one photo though. I might do a short tour through "Heinous Things We Had / Did / Wore in the 70s!"

My thoughts exactly! I might have to do a whole "heinous outfits" series. That'll kill a whole week of NaVloPoMo!

I burned all my pics from the 70's.

I did.

Honest.

Be satisfied with Flock of Seagulls. Ok? Let's leave it at that.

Yes, this is good idea because around the 15th it is gonna be "the hill" and we are going to need all the help we can get.

1. When you wake up tell us the dream you just had.
2. What is in the refrigerator and why?
3. A favorite free place you like to visit and why.

If anyone wants to make a music video or do a remix, you can use films from Lost in Light. It's a little more involved production wise but it's there for you if you are interested. Link to the File Directory.

The MPEG links take you to the Internet Archive where we posted the original full-length films. The other formats are just the edited posts that we make from the full films.

Great ideas great ideas. Anyone have any musical talent? Play an instrument? Let us know! I'm planning on making a post about my music equipment for today (Day 6).

Show us what you've got!

I have a goal of an interview with a friend or two about their feels/thoughts on video and the web. (clearly I'll need to flesh it out more)

So many people I know are entirely obviously to communities and activities like video blogging. I think showing an outside perspective, especially during this month would be interesting.

My only worry is that the type of person I've described would probably not be willing to be on camera....

My Day 6 video had a question along these lines that I was kinda hoping to solicit video responses to. Some people are intrigued and fascinated by my video stuff (at least the more serious, quasi-journalistic pieces), but when it comes to the more casual, vlog-style stuff, it's usually met with eyerolls and sarcastic cracks. I was wondering if anyone here had some funny retorts they keep in their pocket for such moments.

Do you have collectibles?
What do you have? What set of treasures are you keeping?

For those searching for something to video there is six days left at http://www.10questions.com. It is for the American election so sorry about that for our international friends.

Just a thought.

My friend Alan Levine live-blogged a conference session with Joe Lambert of storycenter.org and it contains some fabulous resources and story-generating ideas. Follow the link for the whole post, but here are my favorites (paraphrased):

Write 10 things that you really love. Flip side, write 10 things that make you furious. One word each. Read the list of likes in normal voice, but read the second list slowly with feeling. Which ones were surprising? Pick one word on either list and describe the moment you felt that emotion.

hate=racism, love=pralines (stimulating example - find your own & vlog it)

“Tell me a story about your love of an appliance”
“Tell me a moment when your life took a different direction. e.g. ‘The phone rang…’”
