My Other i.e. main blog

Torqued

I’m trying to find a for-real poster like the picture shown below, to give to a car enthusiast co-worker. So far I’ve hit Teh Googles and despair.com but not found it available for purchase. Any ideas?

Let me just say this about that

The picture linked in the previous post? Not me I swear. I can’t even take credit for finding the picture; I tripped over it in this plurk, scorched my eyeballs and decided you needed an opportunity to do the same. If I were really clever, I’d have suggested a caption contest. Now it’s too late; I’m [...]

Cold snap

Life is full of risks, you know? For example. By putting this link in a blog post, I risk losing readers. I don’t know what to say except “I’m sorry” and I hope you’ll forgive me some day.

Coding standards need not apply

Here’s a snippet of pseudocode I wrote this afternoon: if ( ( lunch == slim_jim * 4 + jack_cheese ) && PM_meeting ) /*then*/ gas_problem = true; This code runs in a TMI context.

Radio Captive Jam?!

Disclaisure: I’m not clever enough to create things like this or even find them without professional help. A plurk feiend brought this to my attention and, well, I liked it. A lot. The end.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we-- ooh! Shiny!

About Me:
Can't place the name but the face rings a bell...
Married, children both regular and grand, here because I Did It last year, survived, hardly any mental damage at all. I think.
Quasimodo? No, too obvious. Igor! No? Well it was just a hunch. ... I know! It's My Little Cthulhu!
And yes that's a foretaste of NaBloPoMo. If you hear a voice in your head saying, "Run! Run for your life while you still have a chance!", then we have something in common. The voices I mean, not the running. I hate running. Too much like exercise. Isn't there a limit on these About Me things? Hmm.

Update - the state of the Jam

So much for Plans, eh. Shortly after I signed up for this year's NaBloPoMo, my mother was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. She's supposed to begin treatment this week. Two weeks from now, she'll be through the worst of it and past the point of greatest risk... or she'll be gone.

Needless to say, this has caused me to scale back my NaBloPoMo plans. While I do intend to maintain a semblance of Normal in both real and weblog life, and post every day, I'm not going to try anything ela… Continue

Scavenger Hunt?

Note: my "hunt" post is up; click here to read it. Now seeking item suggestions. :-)

Does a 30-item scavenger hunt sound interesting to you? I started thinking about this yesterday as a NaBloPoMo plan, or theme. Over the next couple weeks, blog readers would suggest items to be found - more on the finding process in a little bit - and each item would be featured in a NaBloPoMo post.

I haven't figured out all the details yet,… Continue

Hi there! Thank you for your kind words. I feel very fortunate and grateful to be alive and well.

I briefly went over some of your archives (I'm not a fast reader..). I'm very sorry about your mother's diagnose. I didn't happen to come across updates about her - how is she doing? If you don't mind me prying.

You might be aware already, our toy store donates a portion of all sales at all times to LLS and or other (children related) charities. Giving is our motto, and I wish to live to see the day when there are no more cancers. We hope others will help us and join us, by purchasing / telling friends and families about our store, by demanding our government to do more and spend more in research and clinical trials, and by raising awareness.

Okay, this has got to be the coolest page ever! The header just sent me on a seriously dizzy flashback to my Atari days.
