month of 70’s GPM: i can see clearly now (johnny nash)

reggae, meet wreke. wreke, meet reggae. love at first sight. in 1972, plenty of americans had no earthly idea what reggae music was. pity, too, because this was a great time to hear bob marley and the wailers (before they split and then marley formed bob marley & the wailers. no, i don’t make this up.)  but [...]

month of 70’s GPM: got to give it up (marvin gaye)

MORE COWBELL! well yesterday, i did talk about songs that made me feel like i’m at a party. this is one of those songs that qualifies. and how. got to give it up (part 1) is a song by marvin gaye, a dude who was killed by his own dad  (which definitely gives one pause) way [...]

month of 70’s GPM: some kind wonderful (grand funk railroad)

not to be confused with the movie of the same name… some kind of wonderful is actually a cover song for grand funk, much like another monster hit, the loco-motion. it’s hard for me to choose which one i love better so i flipped a coin. (sue me; i don’t have to be logical. it’s my [...]

month of 70’s GPM: jet airliner (steve miller band)

the unsolved mystery of the bleeped song… not solved here of course, but part of my memories nonetheless. i must confess, i adore steve miller band’s 1970s output. i spent hours trying to figure out what the pompatus of love was; i nearly injured myself clapping along with take the money and run;  i loved the [...]

month of 70’s GPM: don’t go breakin’ my heart (elton john and kiki dee)

whatever happened to kiki dee, anyway? since i was on the subject of sir elton duets the other day, i figured, ah, what the hell. let’s launch into another. (fret not. this will not become a sir elton john fanzine. promise.) i love this song, an attempt by sir elton to replicate those old marvin gaye/tammi [...]

blatantly bad 70s songs -- need an earworm? got someone you don't feel thankful for?

who knew this month there'd be So. Much. Fodder. for blatantly bad 70s songs! in fact, there are too many to fit in a 30 day period! i was afraid at the start of NaBloPoMo this year, afraid i wouldn't be able to write for 30 days straight (especially considering i was scheduled to have my gallbladder out -- which i did friday the 21st -- so i had to really plan ahead!) lucky for me, i've gotten tons of people making sug… Continue

Peter M told me about the music going away (i ahdn't even noticed oddly enough) and i asked Eden about it. she said it didn't work so well so she took it down. she brought it back for me...i was honored! if that sounds sarcastic it's just the print. i'm being sincere.

I went to your website and read about being radioactive. My husband had cancer [15 month's cancer free!!] and we'd joke about him being radioactive after all the tests [the cancer was in his femur so he had nasty tests]. Then he'd call Chemo "Drano". I hope you get to feeling better.

Then I read about little Mason. My prayers are with that family. What a horrible tragedy. I'm so sorry. I almost cried when you talked about "Le Petit Prince".

Look forward to getting to know you better!! Tiff
